SFB Room 201, OLFU

This is the fourth activity of Science Club. The main goal of science club is to strengthen
the scientific skills and knowledge of club members in laboratory practices which makes them
prepared in the future, given that senior high schools and college specifically science courses
were exposed to this type of activities.

The fourth activity focusses on the proper use of laboratory instruments and proper
handling of chemicals during chemistry experiment.

Before the activity started, moderator explain the proper use of laboratory instruments
such as beaker, spatula and graduated cylinder. Also, proper way of transferring fluid from one
container to another was demonstrated, proper way of handling chemicals, and proper waste
disposal.

After short discussion of moderator, the materials have been set-up. The moderator group
the students according to grade level, having a total of 4 groups. One group for grade 7 and 8,
one group for grade 9, and two group for grade 10.

Students perform the laboratory experiment through the instruction and guidance given
by the moderator. After performing the experiment, moderator discussed the concept behind the
experiment. Such as formation of bubbles, and heat released after the reaction.

Another knowledge was learned by the students through simple activities which answers
their curiosity for the different dilemma they have observed in their surroundings.
