ABOUT LOAN PROCESS

1. Course is approved by some of the nationalized banks for educational loan and payment of
entire fees/expenses will be solely the responsibility of candidate.
2. As per recent RBI guidelines you have to apply for educational loan in the Nationalized
Bank at the place where you are presently residing.
3. We will help you in providing documents (D.G. Approval, Sponsorship Letter, etc.) required
for availing educational loan from the bank.

You are requested to send us the scanned copy of the following documents to

1. Loan Application Form with acknowledgement copy from the bank (Scanned Copy)

Physical Standards:
1. Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all
its amendment as applicable to seafarers.
2. Candidates will have to undergo a full medical check-up through our Panel Doctor approved by D.G.Shipping.

Eyesight:
1. Distance vision (unaided): 6/12 in each eye; or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in other eye.
2. Normal colour vision.
3. Candidates will have to undergo a full eyesight test by a Company Medical Officer.

Minimum Height: 157 Cms. Minimum Weight: 48 Kg.

 After applying online, the company will inform the eligible candidates about the time and date of the
Online Test by an email through our assessment partners “Aspiring Minds”.
 Candidates must ensure they provide their correct email-id and phone number/mobile

 Successful candidates clearing the cut-offs in Online Test will be called by GE Shipping for Technical
Interview/Medical to our Mumbai Head Office/ GEIMS Lonavala. Timely intimation shall be provided about
the same.

 Medical test will take place at Lonavala and shall be conducted by a company appointed doctor approved by the
DG Shipping. The details of the same shall be provided after the interview.

 Candidates are to refrain from getting their medical test done from any other doctor apart from the one
appointed by the company. The results of such tests shall be inadmissible and the candidate will have to
undergo the test again with the company appointed doctor.

 The Company will not provide any lodging, boarding, travelling or any other incidental expenses to the
candidates incurred during admission process.

Online Test will be scheduled for the candidate when we start the admission process for the
batch (Tentatively 1-2 months prior to the course commencement date).

• Online Test Login details (Username & Password with the Test Link) will be
communicated to you through an email by our assessment partners ‘Aspiring Minds’
with the subject “System Admin : Great Eastern Shipping Assessment Details”

The Candidate has to take the test from his/her home or the nearest cyber cafe. You need to
have a basic laptop/personal computer with a web camera facility and smooth internet
connection.

Candidates who are doubtful about their vision/physical fitness can do their
medical (Medical Fees Rs.3700/-) with our Company & DGS approved Doctor
before Online Test & Interview .

However, the selection will be strictly on clearing Online Test, Technical Interview & Medical
Clearance.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria should apply by filling the Online Application Form on the website.
The Application should be submitted in the format given in the website only, with one recent passport size
photograph pasted neatly in the right hand top corner.

Career Path

Career prospects on successful completion of GME course:

8 Month Pre-Sea training at the Institute -> followed by 4 months training on ship as Trainee Marine Engineer
and 6 months training on ship as Junior Engineer - > 4 months mandatory Preparatory Course ashore for M.E.O
Class IV Exam -> Post successful clearance of M.E.O Class IV Exam, eligible for employment globally. The salary

for the certified 4 Engineer (COC Holder) is paid Rs. 1, 20,000/- pm.

- Stipend paid during 10 months onboard training: Rs.30000/- pm or as offered by our subsidiaries / foreign
partner companies according to their standard scale.

With further experience at sea and on obtaining higher Certificates of Competency, they will be placed in the next grade
and simultaneously have an opportunity to rise to the rank of Chief Engineer of the Ship.

General Instructions.

1. The Applicants are responsible to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria, regarding educational
qualifications, MMPE test, age and eyesight.

2. Eligibility criteria for admission to the course are as per the guidelines issued of the Directorate General of
Shipping, Govt. of India and hence are not changeable.

3. If any false / incorrect information furnished by the Applicant is detected at any stage, his/her candidature will
not be considered and if selected, he/she will be removed from the training course and the entire course fees
will be forfeited.

4. Course fees, Advance Fees, Examination fees once paid, will not be refunded, partly or otherwise, under any
circumstances.

5. As the Applications are processed by a computerised system, it is essential that the application be forwarded
strictly in accordance with the prescribed format.

6. Duly filled in Application Form should have one photograph pasted and Demand Draft attached.
Originals/photocopies of certificates etc. should not be sent with the Application Form.

7. All fields in the Online Application Form should be filled with correct details and Application number/Enrollment
number should be noted by the candidate for all future reference.

8. Candidates should possess at least Twelve (12) recent passport size photographs (front view) and these
photographs only must be used on Application Form, Interview, Medical Examination, training etc. Any change
of photograph will disqualify the Candidate.

9. Candidates, at the time of reporting to the institute if not at the time of Interview, will be required to produce
original copies of proof of age, Degree Certificate, HSC Certificate or equivalent, SSC Certificate or equivalent,
where applicable from Govt. recognized board/universities.

Note:

The Offer of admission for Pre-Sea Training and Shipboard Training by GES shall not be considered as guarantee of
employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of GES offering employment after obtaining the
MEO Class-IV Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our employment and serve on our
vessels for a period of three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette Notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on
December 12, 2007 by Govt. of India.
