INTRODUCTION

As a requirement for the strand Home Economics with the course of Tourism Promotion
Services in K-12, students of Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas Campus are
required to take their Work Immersion in a different place including hotels, restaurants,
travel agency and etc. regarding to their strand.

On the job training is significant to the student to give them awareness about the reality
of their chosen career. It is also help them to know the basic things that are happening
within their career. Your background OJT experience is often asked by the company
you are applying and how it is related to the position you are applying for.

I had chosen The Bayleaf Hotel Cavite to be my training ground because they had the
facilities and mentors that taught me to be professional in my duty hours.

It is the responsibility of the supervisor and managers to teach interns about the daily
routine around the company, especially to the department where the interns are
assigned, so that interns are able to know the basic Do’s and Dont’s. The training
provides the students the opportunity to accurate sufficient knowledge and skills
relevant to work habits necessary to become competitive in the labor market. The
training also assists individuals in developing professionalism and interpersonal skills
necessary for success of the workplace. Accommodating on-the-job trainees can be
truly beneficial not only to the trainees but also to the company that gives opportunity for
this type of learning. That is why trainees should take the training seriously as it become
a powerful tool and possibly even a source of recommendation when they take that big
lift from being students to career professionals.

CHAPTER II: The Student On-The-Job-Training

Schedule and Duration of Work

In Sales and Marketing department, we are required to take up at least 9 hours a day
and (2) day-off every week. My schedule as a senior high intern in Bayleaf Hotel starts
up at 8 am to 5 pm. As an intern, we are not required to take an OT (Overtime).

Narrative Report
 Experience with the Immediate Superior
On my first day of internship in Sales, I felt so excited and nervous at the same time. I
did not meet my expectation because at first I thought I would be very busy when I get
started, but since I was just an intern the task were limited. Day passed and I
understand that the job there are so difficult for an intern, after that I get the daily routine
of the employee there. They really taught me a lot, but the one thing I won’t forget is the
difference of being a student and an employee, that once you have been involved in
your dream job you need to be more focus three times than being a student.

 Experience with the Co-Workers

Our co-workers are really approachable, kind and jolly, but once they are busy and
more focus the one thing they want is silence. They are really hard-working employees
that their job is more important than their selves.

Over-all Job Description

Being assigned in Sales and Marketing Department, gave me a chance to boost my
self-confidence, improve my communication skills and learn to do multiple task. In this
department you really have to be more focus because sales and marketing team having
deals with the client that causes the hotel more productive. They are the one who
receives room reservation, conducts social gatherings and event from the client’s
discretion and the one who faces different client to be the hotel’s patron.
