Introduction

On-the-job Training is one means of strengthening and enriching students'

skills. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration degree

are offered the opportunity to participate in so called On-the-Job Training, which

allows them to apply what they learned in school to their chosen agencies. It's

the start of the most incredible educational experience a BSOA student will ever

have. It is one way of instilling a sense of responsibility in them as they do the

tasks assigned to them by their supervisors and the rest of the office personnel.

It's also the time for a BSOA student to start honing the skills needed to work in

an office. Thus, a BSOA student has the opportunity to develop attitudes, skills

and understanding which is necessary in the field of office administration.

The On-the-Job Training offers BSOA students with a background of what

is really going on in a particular office. On-the-Job Training allows you to promote

positive values and build strong moral character among your coworkers and

community members. It is one of the variables that assists pupils in enriching and

strengthening their school-based knowledge. It's also one way of getting BSOA

students ready for the real world after school.

The ability of a trainee to complete work by following instructions and

fulfilling duties and obligations obediently and diligently can be used to determine

the student's growth.

As an intern I was assign in the Registrar Office of Laguna State

Polytechnic University- San Pablo City Campus starting in April 4, 2022 to May
31, 2022. I learned a lot of experience that I can enhance my skills and

knowledge which I have gained throughout my practical training I perceive as

very valuable component in my future career development.

Training Experience

On the Job training is a must have experience for the students to gain

experience working in the situations that later on, they will encounter in a daily

basis. This will also help us students to improve our skills, gain more knowledge

to our field and be ready for the problems that we might encounter in the future.

Having 2 months in our OJT, I've experienced a lot while working in the school

registrar. The first thing I've accomplished was sorting documents. This task

takes time to sort documents since there's a lot of students enrolled and

unenrolled in school. Next is arranging the files alphabetically and this was the

hardest task that I've encountered so far since you need to do it manually and

correctly arranged. I've also experience releasing the documents such as TOR,

CAV, Good moral etc. And lastly, looking for the students who were enrolled and

not enrolled in the school portal is the easiest task for me because you can easily

search the surname of the student or their institutional account to know if they

were really enrolled or not.

While having this OJT experience the school problems that I’ve

encountered are lack of employee since the office of the registrar are short

staffed the work load progress is slow which will reduce workplace productivity,

and engagement in the students. Slow process will cause delay for the students

to wait for a long time. Sometimes there is a case of missing documents due to

the poor job performance of the staff in charge.

The improvement that I’ll suggest to the registrar office is hiring more

office staffs to improve the performance and increase the skill set of their
workforce. Having more staffs will help to grow the registrar’s office and bring

added value to the team with fresh ideas and expanded perspectives.

that I am not welcome in the office. So that we may have a good conversation, I

addressed them with respect and a pleasant voice.

WEEK 3

During my OJT we continue to do our task to sorting the documents of the

students. While we do our duties in the office, Mam Gwen asked me to give a

task to sort the documents of the non-active students. The other day I assigned

to insert the COR of first year criminology students. This day of our intern will

give me more knowledge on how to organized the documents in the registrar

office.

This third week was a challenging for me, I gained a lot of knowledge not just

academically, but also socially, because I learned to adjust to the people I was

with and to socialize with them in a positive manner. Despite the fact that some

of the staff there aren't particularly nice, I was able to handle the situation

effectively.

WEEK 4

On the fourth week of my On-the-Job Training, I continued the task what

were assigned to me, this task helped me to grow as individual intern. While we

continue to inserting the Cor of the students, I sort the documents of criminology

students in drawer. The next day Mam Gwen asked me again to sort the

documents and arranged it alphabetically. It is hard at first because it is our first

time in sorting out many documents at the same time.

My supervisor gave me another task in encoding the information of the

students in the campus. And then we were instructed to double check the list of

information of the students. This week was not as busy as the previous week, but

I enjoyed it because I completed new tasks. I was also starting to be comfortable

with the faculty staff as well because they are very kind and polite to me.

WEEK 5

Today is my fifth week as an intern in the Registrar's Office. As usual its

Monday that's why we need to attend the flag ceremony. After the flag ceremony,

we started to finish what we've doing last week. Same as the previous week, I

sort all the documents and arranged it alphabetically. During the fifth week of my

On-the-Job Training, I started having normal conversation with the faculty staffs.

In comparison to my first week of training, I became more at ease with

them. I also began to interact with others, particularly those in positions of

authority. I learned how to deal with certain scenarios and adapt to the

environment in which I am performing my On-the-Job Training. I believe that not

only my skills and knowledge, but also my personality as a student today and as

a future professional, were created during my training. This OJT really helped me

to be more determined and to be more competitive in everything that I do in life.
