INTRODUCTION

Spiritual care is an important aspect of holistic care in nursing, according to


WHO has stressed the importance of patients spiritual well being rather than
focus on the disease Patient perception is a valuable way of assessing patients
belief about spiritual care, studying the patients perspectives regarding
spirituality and spiritual care held by by patients aims to gain a deeper
understanding about their view point surrounding spiritual care, but how do
patients perceive the spiritual health care rendered by non Christian students, is
it anyway different from Christian nurses? On the other hand many studies have
revealed a clear definition of spirituality in nursing literature [Tanyi,2002] ;
[Vachon, Fillion, and Achille, 2009]
GAP of Study

Little to research has be conducted on patients perception of spiritual care


especially to non Christian nurses, and few research made only addressed the
nurses work , not they way the religion affects the health care been delivered,
there is no article addressing the perception of patients to non Christian nurse.
PURPOSE OF STUDY
The purpose of this study is to answer this questions:

1 what is the patient perception towards the spiritual care delivered by non
christians nurse

2 Is there any difference between the spiritual care rendered by a christian and
a non christian nurse?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will better improve the understanding of nurses and reseachers on
how patients view spiritual care been delivered to them by a non christian nurse
also this study aims to identify what are the hindrances and barriers when
delivering care, this study will be useful as we all know the nursing profession
keep evolving there will be more non christians in this profession, this research
should be conducted.
