Methodology for Well Filling

1. Scope
This work shall consist of filling of wells encountered in the project alignment.

2. Reference
MORTH specifications and technical specification of Contract.

3. Equipment’s & Tool’s

1. Dumpers
2. Water tanker
3. Wheel loader
4. Measuring Tape
5. Crow bar
6. Spade etc.

4. Procedure
1. Prior to start of filling, the dimensions of wells shall be measured.
2. The well shall be filled with suitable self-compacting boulders / granular / sand material /
stone dust / query waste / brick metal / crushed concrete / kankar etc. as shown below:

3. The compaction shall be done by fully saturating the material with water.
4. The top 300mm depth of the well below the OGL shall be made of M15 grade of concrete.
5. Afterwards embankment / subgrade material is laid and compacted as per MORTH
specification.

5. Safety Precautions
1. The well area shall be fully protected with barricading or safety ribbon.
2. Experienced persons shall be deployed at well filling.
3. All trucks shall be provided with reverse horns and lights.
4. All workmen at work area shall wear safety helmets and reflective jackets.
5. Regular inspection for all dumpers at unloading point shall be required.
6. Wherever required, flagman shall be provided.
7. Warning and cautionary boards shall be displayed at wells.
