Regional Memorandum
78th ARAW NG KAGITINGAN AND PHILIPPINE VETERANS WEEK: NATIONAL CREATIVE
PAINTING COMPETITION, ESSAY WRITING AND ORATORICAL CONTEST
To Schools Division Superintendents

1. Relative to DepEd Memorandum no. 83 s. 2020 stating the celebration of the

Philippine Veterans Week will be on April 3-8, 2020 while the 78th Anniversary of
the Araw ng Kagitingan will be on April 6, 2020. This year’s theme is “Pamanang
Kalayaan ng mga Beterrano: Isabuhay at Pagyamanin ng Lahing Pilipino”

2. A series of activities will be conducted to celebrate these two

commemorations. Among these activities are the CREATIVE PAINTING
COMPETITION, ESSAY WRITING AND ORATORICAL CONTESTS. These activities will
be collaboratively organized and sponsored by the Department of Education
(DepEd), Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP), Veterans Affairs Office
(PVAO) and the Department of National Defense (DND). Details of these two
significant events, including the contest mechanics are provided in the
attached Enclosures 1 and 1a, 2 and 2a, 3 and 3a respectively.

3. The division winning contest piece both Creative Painting and Essay Writing
should submit on or before February 28, 2020 while the Oratorical Contest will
be held on March 4, 2020 at 9:00 A.M. at the Curriculum and Learning
Management Division (CLMD) DepEd Regional Office, Gate 2, Karangalan
Village, Cainta, Rizal

4. Travel and other incidental expenses of the district, division regional and
national identified winners, coaches and DepEd personnel during the contest
and awarding ceremonies of abovementioned commemorations shall be
charged against local funds, regional/division/school PTCA, school board
Funds (SBF) or to other sources and grants, subject to the fund availability and
the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
