Objective of the lesson


At the end of every activity, the students are expected to:
1. Gain knowledge of the importance of sports and recreation
2. Learn proper selection of appropriate form of sports aand recreation
3. Share and enjoy sports recreation.

How to know if it is right for you.


1. A primary reason for engagement is for pleasure and fun
2. Involvement in the activity may have a serious commitments and self-discipline.
3. When recreation activity is part of an organized community or agency program it should be socially
and morally acceptable.

TYPES OF PARTICIPATION
1. Active participation may include both sports and fitness
2. Passive participation includes spectator and video participation.

What is active participation?


Active participation is a way of working that supports an individual's right to participate in the activities and
relationships of everyday life as independently as possible. The individual is an active partner in their own care
or support rather than being passive.
Why Active participation is important?
Individuals become more involved in the community and more aware of opportunities and what they can
hope for themselves. Increased opportunities for learning and development of important skills, knowledge,
education and employment. Enhanced well-being, with increases in self-confidence, self-esteem and self-
belief.
What is active participation in the classroom?
Active participation is the consistent and simultaneous engagement of the minds of all the learners with the
content of the lesson. Such participation increases the rate and degree of learning.

What is a passive participant?


not participating readily or actively; inactive: a passive member of a committee. not involving visible reaction
or active participation: to play a passive role.
What is the difference between active and passive participation?
Active Participant: May not be the leader of the group discussion, but they will offer opinions, suggestions,
and examples to stimulate conversation. They openly listen to others and work with them to maintain the
discussion flow. Passive Observer: Often will not offer any support during group work
