INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this document is to provide a basic guideline for pilots taking
their initial type rating on Airbus 320.
The document follows strictly the last revisions of the Airplane Flight Manual
& Flight Crew Operating Manual published by Airbus and are based in Airbus
320-214 MSN 2806.
The use of this document is strictly monitored and in no case it may be used
without Global Training Aviation written consent.

TRIGGER ACTION
Load & Trim Sheet reception.
FINISH ACTION
PF request “Before Start C/L” and PM reads “Down to the line”
NOTES
- Before starting the scan flow both Crew Members carefully check the load and trim
sheet (Correct flight, correct aircraft, dry operating index, configuration, fuel on
board, etc)
- At this stage each Crew Member will adjust the seat position until the pilot’s eyes are
in line with the red and white balls.
After the Scan Flow PF will select PERF TO page on the MCDU & PM will select F-PLN on the
MCDU.

TRIGGER ACTION
Ground clearance obtained and Flight Crew is ready to start the operation.
FINISH ACTION
PF will request “Below the line”. PM will read until Before start C/L is completed.
NOTES
- Request ATC clearance on DLV frequency thereafter request clearance for Pushback
(If required) & start
- The ATC (XPDR) is set normally at this stage to AUTO mode. It is Flight crew
responsibility to check airport special requirements in order to comply with them. For
more information about ATC refer to FCOM DSC-34-SURV-10-10.

NW STRG DISC message required if pushback is going to be done. Check for it on ECAM

- After Start, the last engine started must be running at or near idle for at least 2
minutes before takeoff initiation.
- Switch Engine & Wing Anti Ice for operation according FCOM PRO-NOR-SOP-09
- Call ground personnel to give clearance to disconnect.

- During the brakes check, check that the triple indicator reads zero (Flight crew may
observe residual braking pressure for a short period of time)
- FLT CTL check must be done according FCOM PRO-NOR-SOP-90 & FCTM NO-040

NOTES
- PM will check silently his/her FTL CTL after PF finish his/her FTL CTL check.
- Briefing confirmation will be done only in case there is any change on the initial ATC
clearance received.

When line up or takeoff clearance received.

NOTES
- Set Strobe sw….ON, Nose sw…T.O, Land Lights sw….ON (When takeoff clearance is
received).
- Check visually and on ND (TCAS) that the approach path is clear of traffic.
- Confirm visually by runway markings and on PFD (If LOC signal is available) the
active runway.
TRIGGER ACTION
Take Off/Line Up clearance obtained PF request “Below the line”
FINISH ACTION
FINISH ACTION: PM reads “Below the line (Before Takeoff)
NOTES
- Check visually and on ND (TCAS) that the approach path is clear of traffic.
- Confirm visually by runway markings and on PFD (If LOC signal is available) the

PM announces “FL100 checks completed”
NOTES
- Switch seatbelts OFF in case of good weather conditions and stable condition of the
aircraft.
- EFIS Option: PF on CSTR & PM on ARPT.
- Check on the MCDU:
· RAD NAV: CLR the manually tuned nav aids.
· SEC F-PLN: Normally, copy the active.
· PROG: Announce CRZ FL/OPT FL/REC MAX.

TRIGGER ACTION
When ALT/CRZ FL reached.
NOTES
- Monitor the Fuel scanning for possible leaks. Compare actual consumption and
forecasted consumption. Check periodically Navigation Accuracy in order to detect
any possible downgraded capability.
- In case of instrument or system failure check Flight Instrument tolerances, RNP,
RVSM and approach capability for a proper situation assessment. FCOM PRO-SPO-50,
FCOM PRO-SPO-51 & FCOM PRO-SUP-34.

NOTES
- EFIS option: Both on CSTR the latest at 10000ft. Set LS pb according your type of
approach (ON in case of ILS, LOC)
- Check on the MCDU:
· RAD NAV: Nav aids manually tunned.
· PROG: GPS PRIMARY & ACCURACY HIGH.

- Ensure positive directional control of the aircraft and taxi clearance received and
understood before starting the scan flow.

NOTES
- Retract Flaps to position 0 except if the OAT is above 30ºC. In this case, retract flaps
to position 1+F. Additional information FCOM PRO-NOR-SOP-21.
- If required, use brake fans (If installed). Delay the operation of the brake fans for a
minimum of about 5 minutes, or done just before stopping at the gate (whichever
occurs first) to avoid oxidation. If the brake temperatures exceeds 500ºC or in case
of abnormal or emergency operation disregard the oxidation phenomenon
