Pre- mobilisation check list for Offshore travel

1.1 General Travel Offshore (applies to helicopter and crew boat)

 All DPE employees / contractors must bring a copy of their passport photo page and
visa page, and / or their emirates ID.
 Personnel suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be tested and
if positive will not be allowed to travel. Dubai Petroleum has a zero tolerance policy
to substance abuse and it is recommended to avoid consumption of alcohol for 24
hours before departure.
 Medicine, both prescription and non-prescription, must be declared at check-in.
 Smoking (cigarettes or e-cigarettes) and the use of chewing tobacco are prohibited
while on the bus, helicopter and crew boats
 Your bag should be a ‘Soft Bag’ (not a trolley bag) and should not weigh more than
15 kg when packed.
 Where a passenger has more than 15kg of baggage and DPE have not been
previously made aware of the requirement to ship then the excess baggage will be
shipped offshore at DPE’s convenience (this may be by helicopter or boat and could
arrive offshore several days later).
 No sleeveless shirts, shorts of any type, baseball caps or headwear, flip flops / Crocs
or open toed sandals to be worn.
 No cigarette lighters of any description (be it single or double action) will be allowed
to be carried on their person or stowed in baggage.
 No matches (be it strike anywhere or safety type) will be allowed to be carried on
their person or stowed in baggage.
 No lighter fuel or lighter refill of any description will be allowed to be carried on their
person or stowed in baggage.
 Cameras (video or still) are not allowed to be taken offshore (excludes mobile
phones). In certain exceptional cases such devices may be allowed but only with
prior written authorisation from the appropriate DP authority. Personnel found with
unauthorized camera devices offshore are likely to be subject to disciplinary action.
Laptops and IPADs (or equivalent) are currently excluded from this restriction and
are allowed to be taken offshore without prior written authorization, however use of
the cameras is strictly forbidden while offshore and a ‘zero tolerance’ policy exists for
personnel who infringe this constraint.
 Where a passenger needs to take a camera offshore by helicopter or crew boat, the
relevent police approval is required. An application to take the camera offshore
should be made at least 3 working days prior to departure to allow for processing of
the application.
 No firearms, ammunition, weapons, knives or sharp objects are allowed to be carried
on helicopters.
1.2 Helicopter Travel Offshore
 DPE shall be advised in advance of the flight day if any baggage in excess of the
15kg allowance needs to be shipped with the passenger to allow him to do his job on
the same day he mobilizes. DPE will endeavor to ship the excess baggage on the
same flight.
 Payload on the aircraft is limited. Where there is a need to reduce the number of
passengers on a flight due to weight constraints the relevant OIM’s and /or Drilling
Supervisors will be consulted to agree who does not fly.
 You are expected to arrive at the Heliport (Dubai Petroleum Main Office) at least 2½
hours before your scheduled helicopter departure.
 The carriage of Electronic Cigarettes / Vaporizer Devices in passenger baggage is
not permitted. Carriage of Electronic Cigarettes / Vaporizer Devices on helicopter
shall only be permitted when of an acceptable (cigarette) size, when carried securely
on a passenger’s person and if kept inert.
 Provision for lighting cigarettes is available at the Helicopter Check-In at the MOB,
Aerogulf Waiting Area and the nominated Smoking Areas offshore.
 Mobile phones are allowed to be taken offshore, but will be collected and returned to
you during helicopter travel. Use of mobile phones outside SWF LQ, Fateh LQ, or
drilling rig accommodation and photography using mobile phones anywhere on the
installation is strictly prohibited. If photographs need to be taken for business /
operational purposes then prior approval must be granted by the OIM. Any person
found taking pictures offshore without prior OIM approval will be subject to
disciplinary action.
 Laptop computers must be declared at the helicopter check-in.
 First time flyers going offshore for DP should declare themselves at the heliport.
 All personnel must complete a passenger declaration form at the DP heliport
(Appendix 5).
 Personnel are required to follow the directions of heliport staff and pay close
attention to the flight safety briefing.

1.3 Crew Boat Travel Offshore

 DPE shall be advised in advance of the trip if any baggage in excess of the 15kg
allowance needs to be shipped with the passenger to allow him to do his job on the
same day he mobilizes. DPE will endeavor to ship the excess baggage on the same
trip.
 You are expected to arrive at the check-in (Port Rashid) no later than 1 hour prior to
your scheduled boat departure.
 Personnel must wear sturdy non-slip footwear required for “swing rope” transfer.
Smooth soles will not be allowed, to avoid the risk of slipping.
 Mobile phones, laptops, and tablets may be carried on board (in a suitable carrier
such as a ruck sack) and used during the boat trip to access the free Wi-Fi.
 All personnel must complete a passenger declaration form at the Port Rashid check-
in desk (Appendix 5).
 Personnel are required to follow the directions of the check in staff and pay close
attention to the various safety briefings that will be shown on board the vessel.
 Should passengers require sea sickness tablets, they are requested to visit their
physician or the DP Clinic to obtain a prescription. The preferred drug is Cinnarizine
25mg or Meclizine 25mg as they have less side effects compared with some other
drug types, in most individuals. Please discuss all your medication, including sea
sickness medication, with your physician or the DP Clinic prior to travelling. A
common side effect of sea sickness medication is drowsiness and medications may
affect various individuals differently. Passengers should immediately contact the DP
Clinic or Offshore medics in the event of persistent drowsiness or any other medical
condition possibly related to sea sickness or its medication.
