 The concrete deck to receive screed shall

be well brushed to remove laitance.
Before laying screeds the surface of the
concrete shall be free from surface dust C311554-C-REC-
SP-1279-F and dampened with clean water. QCI (Civil) 023

Clause 2.3.2  Spot levels & survey shall be given for the

slope and cross slope.
 Traps shall be provided at the rain water
outlet pipe areas.
4. Materials for screed SP-1279-F  Sand, cement and water required for 100% H H W/A

shall comply with the requirements of
SP-1279-D.
 Materials for screed shall be mixed on
the Worksite in a batch mixer of QCI (Civil) C311554-C-REC-
approved size and design complying with 023

uniform distribution of materials with
mass of uniform colour and consistency.

 The screeds shall be formulated of one

part OPC (complying with BS EN 197-1-
2000), to two parts of sand (complying
with BS 13139) to four parts aggregate,
14 mm maximum size complying with BS
12620.
 The proportion of materials for angle
fillets shall be one part OPC (complying
with BS EN 197-1-2000), to three parts
sand (complying with BS 13139).

5. Screed for roof SP-1279-F  The Contractor shall not proceed with 100% H H H
waterproofing works Clause 2.3.2 laying screed or angle fillets until the
existing concrete deck surface has been
approved by the Company.
 The Contractor shall lay screeds to the
specified thickness and/or falls as shown
in the Contract Documents and in
alternate bays not exceeding 11 m2.
Stop-ends shall be vertical and
positioned to coincide with construction QCI (Civil) C311554-C-REC-

joints in the concrete deck.
 Screed and angle fillets shall not pass
over roof expansion joints in the
concrete deck.
 Expansion joints shall comprise
impregnated fibre joint filler board to the
specified width.
 Screed and angle fillets shall be finished
smooth and even with a wood float
finish.

 Where specified, a steel trowel shall be

applied lightly to present an even dense
surface without laitance occurring.
6.  The entire surface shall be protected
from premature drying and rapid
temperature change by covering with
sand or hessian or polythene sheeting,
Curing & Protection of SP-1279-F and kept continuously damp for a
screed Clause 2.3.2 minimum period of 4 days.
 Care shall be taken to ensure that any
sheeting is securely fixed during this

7. Waterproofing system & SP-1279-F  The Waterproofing System and C311554-C-REC- H W R

 Waterproofing system shall include-

of 75 mm for a period of not less than 24

The following definitions shall apply:

Hold Point (H): A critical step in fabrication and testing where it is mandatory that the responsible party inspect the component/equipment or witness an activity. Activities
designated as a Hold Point shall not proceed unless the responsible party is present or the Hold Point is formally waived. The Company shall be notified at a duration specified in
the contract in advance of the activity.

Witness Point (W): A critical step in fabrication and testing where it is desirable that the responsible party inspect the component/equipment or witness an activity. The
responsible party shall be notified at a duration specified in the contract in advance of the activity. Once proper notification is given, the activity may proceed according to the
schedule regardless of the Company’s attendance.

Monitor Point (M): A critical step in fabrication and testing where it is optional that the responsible party inspect the component/ equipment or witness an activity. The
responsible party shall be notified at a duration specified in the contract in advance of the first occurrence of the activity at each worksite. No further notification for like activities
at each worksite shall be required. The activity may proceed with or without the Company’s attendance.

Approval Point (A): A critical step in design, procurement, and or fabrication and testing where it is mandatory that the responsible party approve a document/qualification/
equipment/or activity. The responsible party shall be notified at a duration specified in the contract in advance of the first occurrence of the activity or provided the document in a
