THE IMPACT OF TQM IN ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE

Total Quality Management is a strategy aimed to deliver high quality products and services
that cover all customers’ demands and achieve a high level of customers’ satisfaction. This article
provides the information on how Total quality management affects organizational performance in
terms of economic benefits and customer’s demand and satisfaction. TQM’s philosophy is directly
focuses on improving business quality and satisfaction of managers through enhancing the
employee’s involvement in decision making process by utilizing quality improvement and quality
circle strategies. This philosophy of TQM based on the article is that all TQM considered customer
as the key focus in this strategy.

One of the main elements of this article is to provide guidelines on how to measure the
performance of the organization when an effective TQM in implemented. The performance of an
organization can be directly related to its ability to achieve their strategic and financial objectives.
Organizational performances could also be measured either depending on operational performance
which is referring to the financial performance, customer satisfaction, effectiveness of product
quality, enhanced delivery performance, flexibility, minimizing cost and errors and enhancing
process productivity. The main conclusion of this article is that customer satisfaction and quality
performance of products and services can be enhance by implementing different initiatives at
organizations.

As a businessman, the quality of product and services we provide are the two basic
necessity of the business in order to survive competition. It is very important to build customer
relationship by providing excellent product and services in order to maintain loyalty to our
products. Part of the process of giving quality services is continuous improvement and innovation. It
also includes continuous enhancement on work performance by implementing continuous training
and studying on how to maintain and increase business performance on all aspects. I believe that by
all implementing all the elements of TQM strategies on any businesses, including my personal
business, we can all provide a better services and quality of products which can be directly
impacted the performance of business especially the loyalty of customers and financial
improvements.

CHALLENGES IN IMPLEMENTING TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT

The philosophy of Total Quality Management focuses on continuous improvement of quality


through involvement of all persons working inside the organizations. But there are lots of many
challenges creating hindrance in successful implementation of TQM that needs to be considered by
the companies in order to build path for long run survival through enhanced profits and
performance.

This article provide some of the challenges faced by the organization in implementing TQM.
One of the challenges is when the organization has autocratic style of leadership. In this type of
leadership, all the members of the organization, all the members of the organization may not
contribute their ideas which can affect their productivity and affect the quality of product and
services. Another challenge is the lack of employee commitment on their work which will also have
a great impact on the quality of their products. The article also pointed out that improper channel
of communication may also affect the quality results of production. It may serve as the loop hole in
achieving the objectives of the organization by delaying or miscommunications of information flow
in the organization. Companies often fail to identify the needs of the customers maybe because of
inaccurate data, improper survey and wrong interpretation of facts. In my nature of business,
vapeshop and a kennel, some of these challenges already exists. It is a common problem in any
businesses that some employees lack commitment on their work which greatly affect the business
performance. It also took my attention that continuous improvement on products is a great factor
in order to maintain competition on the market. In order to achieve the goal of the business, all the
person inside the organization must have dedication of the goal of the business and should seek
participation on all the members before taking certain decisions and actions on the production and
product improvements. There are always a wide scope of improvements in the business through
the application of TQM in a certain organization. It is always the customer that the businesses
should focuses in order to identify their needs and in order to achieve the goal of the organizations.
