3 TYPES OF COMBUSTION

CHAMBER
DANIEL O. FABON
• A combustor is a component or area of a
jet engine where combustion takes place.
It is also known as a burner, combustion
chamber or flame holder. There are 3
types of combustors. These are: Can,
Cannular and Annular.
1. CAN
Each "can" has its own fuel injector,
igniter, liner, and casing. The air from the
compressor is guided into each individual
can. It is then decelerated and mixed with
fuel. Finally it is ignited.
CAN
1. CANNULAR
Otherwise known as can-annular. Similar to
a can type. Contains discrete combustion
zones contained in separate liners with
their own fuel injectors. Unlike the can
combustor, all the combustion zones share a
common ring casing.
CANNULAR
1. ANNULAR
This is the most common type used.
They do not have separate
combustion zones and simply have a
continuous liner and casing in a
ring.
