1. INTRODUCTION
National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company intend to construct a 26” product pipeline to
transport outlet products (Gas oil, Kerosene & Gasoline) from new Bandar Abbas refinery (Setareh Khalij Fars
under construction) to the center of country (Rafsanjan-Terminal) including 8” branch pipeline to Sirjan. This
pipeline is going to transport 300,000 BPD Gasoil, 330,000 BPD kerosene, 360,000 BPD Gasoline products
through Bandar Abbas,Ghotb-Abad and Mehraran Pump Stations with considering all passive defenses & HSE
design criteria.
2. SCOPE
This specification covers the minimum requirements for the purchase of barred tee to be used for Bandar
abbas sirjan-rafsanjan 26” New Product Pipeline.
Scraper guided bars shall be provided to prevent entry of pigs/ spheres in branch pipeline. Scraper guided bars
shall be designed to withstand the design condition of the pipeline and shall fully comply with IPS-D-PI-149.

- Scraper guide bar configuration and details shall be as per IPS-D-PI-149 rev 0.
- Barred Tees shall satisfy the requirements of ASME B16.9 or MSS SP-75, as applicable.
- Barred tees shall be suitable for the passage of all types of pipeline scraper and inspection pigs on regular
basis without causing any damage to pig and scraper guided bars. Barred tee shall provide an unobstructed
profile for pigging operations in either direction.
- Bars shall conform to material quality and manufacturing standards, and welding compatibility to the main
body of the tee.
- The design pressure / temperature of tees shall be as per the information supplied on the item data sheet or
purchase documentation or in the absence of this information as per the requirements of ASME B16.9,
section 2.1.
- Calculations for tees shall be calculated in accordance with the rules established in ASME B31.4.
Calculations to include as a minimum pipe wall thickness for straight pipe calculations and reinforcement
calculations by area replacement method.
- All design calculations and drawings shall be submitted to the Contractor for approval, prior to
commencement of manufacture.
- All welding shall be completed to a qualified welding procedure specification (WPS) as per the requirements
of ASME BPV Code Section IX. WPS and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder
Qualifications (WQ) to be submitted for approval before commencement of welding.
- The Dimensions of barred tees shall be in accordance with standard ASME B16.9.
- All butt weld ends shall be beveled as per ASME B16.9/ MSS.SP-75/ ASME B16.25 as applicable.

7. MATERIAL
All carbon steels, including normalised steels, used for barred tee shall have a maximum carbon content of
0.23%.
The carbon equivalent of these materials, calculated using the formula:

C.E. C shall be less than 0.42 (check analysis).

If the content of alloying elements other than C or Mn is unknown, the formula to be used shall be:
CE = C + Mn/6 and, in this case, the carbon equivalent shall be less than 0.40 (ladle analysis).
All barred tee manufactured from forgings, or extruded from seamless pipe shall be furnished either in the
normalised, normalised and tempered, or quenched and tempered condition.
Unless otherwise specified herein the location, style, symbols, abbreviations, etc..., of all markings shall be
accordance with NIOEC-SP-50-27.
- When specified by the Purchaser, tests on materials or components shall be witnessed by the purchaser, or
his appointed inspector.
- The PURCHASER or INSPECTOR shall be given access to those parts of the manufacturer's works engaged
on the production of barred tees, to inspect the materials being processed at any stage of manufacture. The
PURCHASER may reject any materials or components which in his opinion do not conform with the
requisition.

11. CERTIFICATION
- The manufacturer shall submit certificates for chemical composition and physical properties together with
details of any tests and heat treatments applied.
- Certification may be waived only with the approval of the Purchaser. The marking shall then be taken as
certification that the requirements of the purchase order and this Specification have been met.
- The certificates shall be available at the time the barred tees are ready for inspection.
- All certificates shall be written in the English Language and be clearly legible.

- All items shall be provided with mill’s standard coating for prevention of rusting during transit.
- Packing shall be in accordance with NIOEC-SP-90-52 “Specification for Packing and Packages”, contained
within the enquiry/purchase order documentation.
- All bevels of fittings are to be suitably protected to avoid damage during shipping.
Vendor shall consider all the requirements of this specification and they shall be submitted individually for
Owner/Purchase approval. Any deviation shall be stated clearly in the offers (If any).
