Dear Families and Students,

Students in 5th and 6th grade, year after year, have shown interest in being a member of an Art Club.
During Art Club students are given extra time in a subject that interests them, explores creativity, develops critical
thinking and independence while practicing their problem-solving skills in a way that no other subject can
compare. This club is organized and lead by students to help build independence and leadership skills. Students
have decided to use their lunch and recess time to be creative and work on lessons with others who have similar
interests. If you are receiving this letter then your student has shown interest in being a member of the HPES Art
Club. Please sign the permission slip below to show your support and give your permission for your student to
participate. Art Club begins on November 22nd, 2019 for 6th Graders and November 14th, 2019 for 5th Graders.

guidelines were chosen by students in order to have a successful and positive experience.

ART CLUB GUIDELINES

● Who: Students in 5th and 6th grade

● Time: 6th Grade: Fridays 11:10am-12:00pm. 5th Grade: Thursdays 11:35am-12:25pm
● Where: HPES Art Room on the 2nd floor (RM 205)
● During Art Club students must be actively involved in an art lesson, NOT just hanging around.
● Art lessons will be decided by students.
● Students must stop at least 5 minutes early to clean up.
● Students must follow HPES Expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe
● Students are expected to participate in Art Club each week.
● If a student must miss art club it’s their responsibility to inform Ms. I or the Art Club President/Vice
President before art club begins. (This is in place for safety purposes)
● If students miss 3 consecutive days then the student will need to speak with Ms. I before returning to Art
Club. This is a once a week commitment.
