DOG GROOMING (TI)

Dog grooming is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing careers. Are you interested in making dog
grooming a career? This course is designed to prepare you to obtain your Suffolk County Dog Grooming
License. Our professional grooming instructor will share their expertise in a learning environment
that combines theory and practical skills. The program includes basic grooming techniques, breed
recognition, first aid, flea and tick evaluation and treatment, skin disorder identification, and clipping
and scissor techniques. A 30-hour internship is necessary for the completion of this course. Student is

Prepare to earn a New York State Equivalency Diploma by successfully completing the New
York State Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC™) exam. Instruction is based on
the content of the test, which includes Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science.
• All classes provide job readiness training, i.e., resumes, job applications, softskills,
and onsite weekly career training workshops on various topics that include:
business and finance, computer technology, health literacy, debt management,
and financial literacy.
• Please note that you need to be 21 years of age or over and that we require a
registration fee of $25.00 (money order or certified bank check) payable
to ESBOCES.

THE NATIONAL EXTERNAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM (NEDP) is an applied performance


assessment system that evaluates reading, writing, math and workforce readiness skills of
participants in life and work contexts. Students who successfully complete the program are
awarded a local high school diploma. The NEDP:

Equivalency diploma so graduates can meet their academic and career goals.

The Adaptive Driver Training Program
is designed to service those with physical and non-physical disabilities.

Our program evaluates, trains, and re-trains individuals with physical and
neurological limitations.
We offer: Types of vehicles used:

• senior citizen assessments • adapted autos
• individualized instruction • non-adapted autos
Referrals are accepted from ACCES-VR, school districts, insurance companies,
Veterans Administration, hospitals, and physicians. Self-referrals accepted.

WORKING TOGETHER TO SUPPORT EMPLOYMENT


The Supported Employment Program
is coordinated and funded by the Office of Adult Career and Continuing
Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR)
and the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).

The program’s goal is to identify competitive employment and follow-up services


geared toward maintaining competitive employment for those deemed eligible.
Our program provides employment-related services to individuals with intellectual
and other developmental disabilities that include:
