1. Identify Indonesian Theater as part of literary tradition both written and
oral.
2. Understand the culture and story behind shadow puppetry.
3. Apply basic reasoning why music has a major function in theater.

Teacher will play a short puppet show to students.
2. Analysis

a. Describe your feelings while watching the show

h. What are the instruments used in Gamelan? Describe each.

Watch and analyze the video clip about Wayang Kulit. Write your observations
and reactions regarding the elements of music listed.

IV. Closure

Music helps to guide the audience by suggesting mood or emotion or it offers the
authors or directors comment on the action of the play. Songs sung by the characters in
the play exist in all forms of theatre, even those outside the musical theatre.
