To Whom It May Concern,
It is my sincere pleasure to write this letter recommending Ms. Anna Wilson for elementary and/or ISP school teaching
positions. Ms. Wilson successfully completed 16 weeks of student teaching split between a fifth grade and an ISP classroom
serving fifth and sixth graders. Anna completed her regular ed placement prior to schools being closed. She was actively
involved in the planning and execution of on-line learning activities for her students during the weeks of school closure from
mid-March through May. She completed the remaining 8 weeks of student teaching working remotely with her mentor
teachers and school staff.
Anna took time to learn about the developmental needs and characteristics of her students in both placements in order to
plan engaging, age appropriate lessons to motivate students. She skillfully aligned instructional goals with state standards in
order to provide meaningful learning activities linked to her measurable lesson objectives. Anna was also careful to follow
IEP goals when planning lesson activities for ISP students when in inclusion settings. Her lessons introduced, reviewed, and
enhanced the academic language for the concepts taught. Anna responsibly completed detailed lesson plans which
incorporated a wide variety of hands on activities to enhance student learning. She made good use of instructional time by
having lesson materials well organized and ready for student use. Her lessons were well paced and provided students with
multiple opportunities to practice with various manipulatives.

Anna developed a strong understanding of the various types of assessments used to collect data on student progress. She
used information gathered through assessments to plan lessons, differentiate, and modify instruction and monitor students’
instructional needs. Anna demonstrated patience and care when working with students in both large and small group
settings. She teaches in a very calm, reassuring manner which allowed her to develop a warm rapport with her students.
Anna developed classroom management techniques that were effective with children in multiple grade levels. She created an
emotionally safe classroom environment by demonstrating that she valued her students’ opinions and treated them fairly.
She carefully monitored students as they worked independently, collaboratively and as a whole group to maintain an
environment conducive to learning. Anna motivated students to work productively by providing supportive encouragement
and high expectations for student learning.

Anna collaborated well with school staff, parents, especially during the online period. She attended and participated in all
staff, grade level and IEP meetings related to her students. She participated in parent/teacher conferences, staff in-service
meetings and numerous zoom meetings with staff and grade level teachers. Anna collaborated very well with her
cooperating teachers and additional staff members throughout her clinical practice experience. She was very receptive to all
suggestions and often quickly implemented new ideas to enhance student learning. Anna also reflected on her lessons and
student reactions in great depth in order to improve her instruction techniques. She was very willing to examine how she
could expand her teaching to increase student understanding. She was very aware of the various learning levels of her
students and strove to accommodate those needs through differentiation.

Anna demonstrated wonderful professionalism in the school setting. She is dedicated and willingly accepted all the
responsibilities of her teaching duties while in class and during online learning. She planned proficiently, was well organized
and executed her teaching duties with determination. Anna possesses a strong work ethic, great patience, wonderful
enthusiasm, and a commitment to teaching. After evaluating her work, observing her performance in class, and supervising her
teaching, I feel confident that Ms. Anna Wilson will make a significant contribution as an elementary educator. I give her my
highest recommendation for teaching positions. If I can provide additional information to support Ms. Wilson’s application for a
position in your district, please contact me (330-429-4127) or fedynadm@mountunion.edu).

Sincerely yours,

Debra Fedyna, University Supervisor
