You are doing great,

Please share your memorable experience this week.

The school we were assigned to is Pangasugan Elementary School. We were amazed at

how high the school was because it has around 100 plus steps of stairs, but it didn’t surprise us
that much since our adviser informed us where the school was located. When we arrived at
school at around 7 am, we were greeted by the students that were busy cleaning their pathway in
front of the school. Then, the teacher from grade 6 arrived and invited us to wait inside their
principal’s office for our teacher who would deploy us. Then the teachers from the other grades
arrived one by one, and as we exchanged greetings, I realized they were quite nice and
approachable. We weren’t able to meet the principal, but one of the teachers assigned us to a
different year level. She explained to us the things we should expect when we are going to
observe. She said that there might be times when they should raise their voice enough just to stop
the commotion that the students might cause and that we shouldn’t be surprised if that instance
happens. I think I can understand them when that happens. Imagine handling a lot of students
inside the classroom. I surely think it isn’t a very easy thing to do.
Before we were assigned to each different grade level, we were able to participate in their
flag ceremony, and we also participated in their daily exercise. When we began our observation,
I was very nervous since I thought that the cooperating teacher I was assigned was strict and
unapproachable. But as we went on with the rest of the hours in the classroom, I realized that she
was nice and approachable too. I observe how the teacher delivers the lesson and how the class
participates and interacts during every activity. I realize that there are times when the students
will start to make noise, but the teacher was able to control the situation perfectly. During every
activity, the teacher always asks the students questions to make sure that they are engaged in the
lesson.
When they had their art activity, I noticed that the teacher provided some materials that
weren’t available to some students. She also lends them her personal items such as pencils,
scissors, and bond papers. I realized that a teacher isn’t just there to teach but is also willing to
help the students with the things they don’t have just to ensure that they will be able to finish the
activities they are supposed to do. When the teacher was cutting some papers to use during their
art activities, I offered help, and she agreed to let me help her finish the work. She also asked me
if I could check the students' papers when they had their math quiz, which I gladly did. My 3-
hour observation ended around 11:30 am.
