RAJA AMPAT
Raja Ampat or “Four Kings” is the name given to some islands in West Papua and
comes from a local myth. The four major islands are Waigeo, Misool ( which is home to
ancient rock painting ), Salawati and Batanta. Raja Ampat is located in the bird head of the
island of Papua. Underwater enthusiasts flock to this region because it offers the world’s
best marine sight. In the Raja Ampat islands, divers can explore vertical underwater walls.
The thrill of drift diving is another great challenge.
The territory within the islands of the Four Kings is enormous, covering 9.8 million
acres of land and sea, home to 540 types of corals, more than 1,000 types of coral fish and
700 types of mollusks. This makes it the most diverse living library for the world’s coral
reef and underwater biota. According to a report developed by The Nature Conservancy and
Conservation International, around 75 % of the world’s species live there.
When divers first arrive here, their excitement is palpable. It’s common to hear
people praise God as they take in the remarkable scenery. Others prefer to remain in silence
taking in the overwhelming sight of so many islands with crystal clear water that softly
brushes over the white sandy beaches.

Negeri Sembilan is unique among Malaysian States for its Adat Perpatih, a
matrilineal social system which came together with the Minangkabau people from the
Indonesian Island of Sumatera who settled in the state.
The cultural heart of Minangkabau culture in Negeri Sembilan is the pretty royal
town of Seri Menanti, about 50 km from the state capital, Seremban. Here, you will find a
traditional timber palace. It was the residence of Negeri Sembilan’s rulers until 1992 when it
was turned into the Royal Museum. It was a showcase of MInangkabau architecture and
design, and was built by two local craftsmen in 1908. No screws or nails were used in its
construction. Many houses in the vicinity of Seri Menanti adopt the distinct feature of
Minangkabau architecture-the curved roof which resembles the horns of a buffalo.
For more of the states’s history, you can head to the State Museum in Seremban
which is also housed in a former palace, the Istana Ampang Tinggi. The Adat Museum in
Rembau, 25 km south of Seremban, contains a fascinating array of cultural artefacts from the
handcrafted antiques to community heirlooms. Further to the South is the Pangkalan Kempas
Historical Complex. Its most fascinating feature is a group of stone megaliths which are
referred to as Batu Hidup ( living rocks ). Villagers believe the rocks can grow and move on
their own.

I remember the day when I first got Sandy, my 7 years old cat. I wanted to name her
because she was so cute. My older sister Michelle convinced me to name her Sandy Bucket
instead; so we could call her Sandy for short. I was so attached to Sandy. Every time I saw
her, I couldn’t walk away, I would just have to hug her. I even slept at the end of my bed, so I
can hug her the whole night even though I was freezing.
I always remember so many fun times with Sandy. Like when we would run and
jump off the end of our pier, and Sandy would chase after us. When I was scared or mad, I
would just hug Sandy and everything wouldn’t be so bad.
But one night, right before I went to bed, my mom let her out. While I went to sleep,
my mom went to call Sandy back in. But she didn’t come in, so I thought she maybe went
inside my neighbor’s house. As my mom and dad went outside to look for Sandy, I became
really worried. They couldn’t find her. Every ten minutes they would go out to look for her,
so I went to bed hoping she was safe. I just thought she got lost and would come back
tomorrow.
The next day was the worst. My mom woke us early and told me and my sister,
Michelle, that Sandy died last night. I was so sad and did not want to do anything that day.
When I was going to school, I could not stop crying. At school all my friends made me cards
and tried to make me stop crying, but I couldn’t. my teacher would always look at me and ask
why I was crying. Even my friends was crying with me.
When I got home I went to my room crying really loudly. I wanted to scream. I came
downstairs and hugged my mom. She said we could get another cat. Then, she was trying to
find a new cat on the internet. But I did not want another cat. I want Sandy. She never found
one that looked like Sandy or at the same age or even in the same kind.
That night I slept with my mom and we prayed for Sandy. I kept thinking she was a
ghost at the end of the bed, so I stayed closed to my mom. The next day I figured out that if
Sandy was a ghost, she would not scare me or haunt me. She would be waiting for me to play
with her.
I still think about Sandy every day and wish she could come back.

In December 2006, I went to Doha to participate in the 2006 Asian Games taking part
in the Bach Volley Ball Championship. We prepared for a long time, training hard and
fighting for approval of our participation. Nothing was easy. My partner, clear, my coach,
King, and I were aiming to get into the top 8 at the Asian Games.
Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle one week before departure, which frustrated me
beyond belief. I had physiotherapy every day following the injury, and tried to recover as
quickly as possible. Of course, the ankle could not heal completely in a few days, so I had no
choice but to just try my best and have my ankle taped when I played in matches.
We played against a team from Thailand, Mongolia, and Malaysia. The most difficult
and important match was that against the Malaysian Team. We played well for the match and
tried our very best. But finally we lost to them and ranked 9. It was so close. We nearly
reached our goal - to be among the first 8 teams.

I usually woke up at 8 a.m. and went to the press center to check the daily schedule of
briefings and press conferences, usually held by the United Nations officials or disaster
mitigation team chief, AlwiShihab.
It was challenging to visits different refugee camps to find soft stories, human interest
stories. Then, I went back to the press center in between to cover the press conferences of the
day.
It was heart breaking when I saw these survivors fight for food and secondhand
clothing, which they said were limited and inadequate. Emerging to a glaring, full noon, it
was time to go back to the press center to write stories and race against time, always fearing
that internet connection would come crashing down.
And after everything was done, only then I remembered to eat. Most times, I enjoy ate
once a day because you always had to rush and it was difficult to find food. You had to travel
quite far, about a 30-to 45-minute trip by car to find fresh food.

bird’s chirps. I got up to open my curtains to let the early morning sun in to warm my face. It
was a perfect days at the beach.
Quickly I changed from my pajamas into my costume and pulled on an old T shirt and
pair of shorts. I stuffed all my other essentials into a back pack of mine and run down the
passage for breakfast. My mom, dad and two sisters were already eating freshly fried
pumpkin fritters with cinnamon sugar. I took my place at the table and begin to eat the meal,
too.
After breakfast we grabbed our things and headed off to the bus stop to wait for a minibus
taxi. At the bus a woman was selling homemade koekusters, my family’s favorite South
Africa treat. We bought some just as our taxi arrived. I made sure to get a seat to see the
sights as we drove.
Once we arrived at sea point beach, our favorite beach of all time, we went to ‘our
spot’, which is right near the rock pool. My sisters an d I raced to get into the water first as
our parents found the nearest fish and chip place. The water was freezing cold as we waded
our way through to get the deep end
I went back to our towels and lied down for a tan, and ended up falling asleep. When I
woke up, my parents were back and were eating lunch with my siblings. After we had all
eaten, we headed back to the water for our last swim. At about four o’clock, we began to pack
up our things so that we could head back. Luckily our taxi just arrived as we got to the bus
stop, so we could head home straight away.

wall was line with shelves, stacked with boxes almost to the ceiling there were many other
wrapped up objects of different shafts and size Dad open the boxes and rummaged through

night and sleep in the bottom of the bed. If I was cold she would snuggle up next to me.
Tessie could do anything. She could beg and sit and shake a paw. I taught her to fetch things.
One Christmas I bought her a rubber ring I wrapped it up in shiny paper and place it under
Christmas tree. She played with it everyday. Tessie would wait at the front door when she
knew it was time for me to come home from school. She would howl the panting with the
rubber ring in front of her If didn't play, she would howl and wouldn't stop until I did. In the
weekend we would take the ring to ihe playground and play for hours and hours until neither
of us could run anymore.
Then one day Tessie feIl ill. She didn’t wait for me by the front door anymore and she
didn't want to play with the ring I tried to encourage her, "Come on, Tessie. Come and play. :
Seemed out of breath She couldn’t walk very well and she wasn't eating properly. Mum and I
took her to the vet. The vet shook her head and told us that Tessie was really sick
There, nothing they can do for her, 'mum whispered to me.
I went to the room where Tessie was waiting and said my goodbyes I felt her warm
fur for the last time on my face and then I ran out side and cried. . . .
What's the matter, son?' asked Dad. He put an arm around my shoulder. We all miss her, 'said
Dad sadly, 'She was a good dog, a really good dog. I nodded and put the ring hack in the box.

A fox fell into a well and couldn’t get out. By and by a thirsty goat came along. Seeing the
fox in the well it asked if the water was good. “Good,” said the fox, “It’s the best water I’ve tasted in
all my life. Come down and try it yourself.”
The goat was thirsty, so he got into the well. When he had drunk enough, he looked around
but there was no way to get out. Then the fox said, “I have a good idea. You stand on your hind legs
and put your forelegs against the side of the well. Then I’ll climb on your back, from there. I’ll step
on your horns, and I can get out. When I’m out, I’ll help you out of the well.”
The goat did as he was asked and the fox got on his back and climbed out of the well. Then,
he coolly walked away. The goat called out loudly after him and reminded him of his
promise to help him out. The fox merely turned to him and said, “If you only had thought carefully
about getting out, you wouldn’t have jumped into the well.”
The goat felt very sad. He called out loudly. An old man walking nearby heard him and put a
plank into the well. The goat got out and thanked the old man.
An old story is told of a king in Africa who had a close friend with whom he grew up. The
friend had a habit of looking at every situation that occurred in his life (positive or negative) and
remarked, “This is good!”
One day the king and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and
prepare the guns for the king. The friend had apparently done something wrong when preparing one
of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the king fired it and his thumb was blown off.
Examining the situation the friend remarked as usual, “This is good!” To which the king replied,
“No, this is NOT good!” and proceeded to send his friend to jail.
About a year later, the king was hunting in an area that he should have known to stay clear
of. Cannibals captured him and took him to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood,
set up a stake and bound him to the stake. As they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed
that the king was missing a thumb. Being superstitious, they never ate anyone that was less than
whole. So untying the king, they sent him on his way.
As he returned home, he was reminded of the event that had taken his thumb and felt
remorse for the treatment of his friend. He went immediately to the jail to speak with his friend.
“You were right,” he said, “it was good that my thumb was blown off.”
He proceeded to tell the friend all that had just happened. “So I am very sorry for sending you to jail
for so long. It was bad for me to do this.”
“No,” his friend replied, “This is good!”
“What do you mean, ‘This is good’? How could it be good that I sent my friend to jail for a
year?”
“If I had NOT been in jail, I would have been with you.”

This the story of Norman, a boy who wanted very much to be genius. But, no matter
how hard he tried, it just didn’t work out. You see, Norman had a problem-he could not tell
RIGHT from LEFT.
At school, the teacher would say, when you know the answer, raise your RIGHT
hand.” By the time Norman figured which hand was which, it was too late! At home it was
the same thing. It was, “Norman, you have your LEFT shoe on your RIGHT foot.”
Things weren’t any better outside. In football, they would send him in at LEFT end
and he would be RIGHT. In baseball, they’d yell, “Norman, move to your LEFT!” He’d move
RIGHT.
Poor Norman! No matter what he did, it wasn’t RIGHT! Or LEFT! But Norman was
determined! Finally, he figured out what to do. He’d call it THIS and THAT. THIS for
RIGHT and THAT for LEFT. Somehow, it all seemed easier. And, in no time, it had it down
pat.
One day, while Norman was home alone, a burglar forced his way in. Norman was
frightened! The burglar asked where his mother’s jewels and furs were. Norman said, “In the
closet”.” But when the burglar asked, “Which way is THAT?” Norman, of course answered,
“LEFT.” The burglar followed these instructions and found himself in the kitchen! Being a
smart burglar he said, “THIS isn’t RIGHT!” and Norman said, “Oh,yes it is-but you asked for
THAT!”
The burglar became angry and said, “Now listen, I asked where the closet is. Do you
understand THAT?” And Norman answered, “Oh, yes, THAT is LEFT!” The burglar said,
“THIS is enough!” And Norman said, “Oh, no, THIS is RIGHT!” Exasperated, the burglar
said, “Oh, forget it! Just tell me where the closet is!” And Norman said, “Turn THIS.” But
naturally, the burglar misunderstood and turned the knob on the door in front of him, and
plunged headlong down the basement stairs.
Just then, Norman’s parents came home, and when he told them what had happened,
his father said the words he’d been waiting so very long to hear, “Norman, you’re a genius!”

A lion wandering by the seashore saw a dolphin lift up its head out of the waves, and
suggested they make an agreement as friends. The agreement was that all of the animals
should be best friends, since the one was the king of beasts on the earth, and the other was the
supreme ruler of all the inhabitants of the ocean. The Dolphin gladly accepted his request.
Not long afterwards the Lion had a combat with a wild bull, and called on the Dolphin to
help him. The Dolphin, though quite willing to give him helps, was unable to do so because
he could not by any reach the land. The Lion insulted him as a traitor. The Dolphin replied,

of the sea, but didn’t give me the power of living on the land.”

CURE FOR SORROW
There is an old Chinese tale about a woman whose only son died. In her grief, she went to a
holy man and said, “What prayers, what magical incantations do you have to bring my son
back to life?”
Instead of sending her away or reasoning with her, he said to her, “Fetch me a mustard
seed from home that has never known sorrow. We will use it to drive the sorrow out of your
life.”
The woman went off at once in search of that magical mustard seed. She came first to
a splendid mansion, knocked on the door and said, “I am looking for a home that has never
known sorrow. Is this such a place? It is very important to me.”
They told her, “You’ve certainly come to the wrong place.”
They began to describe all the tragic things that had recently befallen them. The
woman said to herself, “Who is better able to help these poor, unfortunate people than I, who
have had misfortune of my own?” She stayed to comfort them, then went on in search of a
home that had never known sorrow. However, wherever she turned, in hovels and in other
places, she found one tale after another of sadness and misfortune. She became so involved in
ministering to other people’s grief that ultimately she forgot about her quest for the magical
mustard seed, never realizing that it had, in fact, driven the sorrow out of her life.

One day Abu Ali went to a fair and bought nine donkeys. He rode home on one of
them and the rest of the donkeys followed behind. After a while Abu Ali said to himself, “I
must make sure all my donkeys are here.” So, he turned round to count them.
Abu Ali started counting. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Oh! Where’s
number nine?” he shouted.
Immediately, he jumped down from his donkey. He looked behind the rocks and the
trees, but there was no donkey to be seen. He looked worried.
Then, he decided to count his donkeys again. He counted, “One, two, three, four, five,
six, seven, eight, nine. Oh, he must have come back.” So Abu Ali climbed back on to the
donkey and trotted away.
After a while he counted his donkeys again. He counted only eight! Once more he
looked behind the rocks and behind the trees, but there was no donkey to be seen.
Abu Salim decided to get down from his donkey and count again. As before, there
were nine donkeys. He looked puzzled.
The king was to pass by a beggar’s hut and the man was beside himself with
excitement, not because he was about to see the king but because the king was known to part
with expensive jewels and huge sums of money when moved by compassion. He saw the
king’s chariot just as a kindly man was filling his begging bowl with uncooked rice.
Pushing the man aside, he ran into the street, shouting praises of the king and the royal
family.
The chariot stopped and the king beckoned to the beggar.
“Who are you?” he asked.
“One of the most unfortunate of your subjects,” said the beggar. “Poverty sits on my
doorstep and follows me about like a dog. I haven’t eaten since yesterday afternoon!”
“Have you got nothing for your king, except a tale of woe?” said the ruler, putting out
his hand. “Give me something.”
The miserly beggar, astonished, carefully picked up 5 grains of rice from his bowl and
laid them on the king’s outstretched palm.
The king drove away. The beggar’s disappointment was great. He raved and ranted,
and cursed the king again and again for his miserliness. Finally, his anger spent, he went on
his rounds.
When he returned home in the evening, he found a bag of rice on the floor. “Some
generous soul has been here,” he thought and took out a handful of rice from the bag. To his
astonishment there was a small piece of gold in it. He realized then that the bag had been sent
by the king.
He emptied the rice on the floor, feeling sure there would be more gold pieces in it,
and he was right. He found 5, one for each grain of rice he had given the king.
“It is not the king who has been miserly,” thought the man, sadly. “If I had been
generous and given him the whole bowl of rice, I would have been a rich man today.”
46. Why did the king ask the beggar to give him something?

THE THREE SHEIKS AND QUEEN OF ARABIA
Maura, who liked to be thought of as the most beautiful and powerful queen of Arabia,
had many suitors. One by one she discarded them until her list was reduced to just three
sheiks, all equally young and handsome, rich and strong. It was very hard to decide who
would be the best of them.
One evening, Maura disguised herself and went to the camp of the three sheiks as they
were about to have dinner, and asked them for something to eat.
The first gave her some leftover food; the second gave her some unappetizing camel’s
tail; the third sheiks, who was called Hakim, offered her some of the most tender and tasty
meat. After dinner, the disguised queen left the sheiks’ camps.
The following day the queen invited the three sheiks to have dinner at her palace. She
ordered her servants to give each one exactly what they had given her the evening before.
Hakim, who received a plate of delicious meat, refused to eat it if the other two could
not share it with him, and this act finally convinced Queen Maura that he was the man for her.
“Without question, Hakim is the most generous of you,” she announced her choice to
the sheiks. “So, it is Hakim I will marry.”

“Reward?”, scoffed the merchant greedily counting the amount of the gold. “The purse
I dropped had 200 pieces of gold in it. You’ve already stolen more than the reward I’ll give to
you! Go away or I’ll tell you to the police.”
“I’m an honest man”, said the beggar defiantly. Let’s take this matter to the court!” In
the court, the judge patiently listened to both sides of the story and said, “I believe you both.
Justice is possible! Merchant you stated that the purse you lost contained 200 pieces of gold.
Well, that’s a considerable cost. But the purse the beggar found had only 100 pieces of gold.
Therefore, it couldn’t be the one you lost.”

Once upon a time, in a happy kingdom was born the most beautiful princess in the
world. When she grew up she fell in love with a handsome young man and they promised to
marry each other. This couple was so dear to God that an angel was sent to honor their
wedding.
The princess was so beautiful that the angel too fell in love with her. That made God
sad and instantly the angel was turned into a beautiful bird which sang beautifully but
everyone avoided the poor thing.
The angel couldn’t understand the reason for that suffering. One day as the angel-bird
perched on a big tree standing on a hill in the middle of a field and lamented its fate, four
criminals came under the tree to divide their loot. Then they decided to send two of them to
buy some food and drink to have a feast. As they were coming back from the city, the two
criminals decided to put some poison in the food so they could divide the loot of the other two
criminals between themselves.
Coincidentally, the other two criminals decided to kill the food bearing crocks and
grab their loot too. So they shoot them. After that they ate the food and drank the wine and
died in pain soon after that.
That’s when the angel understood the consequences of improper, illegal desires. They
brought suffering, sorrow and death. God sent us to this Earth to live by the law of this
freedom.

It was the day for the market and a farmer was riding his cart along the country road.
He had to rach the market early so that he could sell his hay. It was very difficult for the
horses to drag the load through the deep mud. On his journey suddenly the wheels of the
horse chart sank into the mire.
The more the horses pulled, the deeper the wheels sank. The farmer climbed down
from his seat and stood beside his chart. He searched all around but could not find anyone
around to help him. Cursing his bad luck, he looked dejected and defeated. He didn’t make
the slightest effort to get down on the wheel and lifted up by himself. Instead he started
cursing his luck for what happened. “I am so unlucky! Why has this happened to me?”
Then, an old man passed before the farmer. He asked the farmer, “Do you think you
can move the chariot by simply looking at it and whining about it? Nobody will help you
unless you make some effort to help yourself. Did you try to get the wheel out of pothole
yourself? Get up, put your shoulder to wheel and you will soon find the way out.”
The farmer was ashamed to himself. He bent down and put his shoulder to the wheel
and urged on the horses.
In no time the wheel was out of the mire. The farmer learned his lesson. God helps
those who help themselves.
Motorcycles are fuel efficient. However, motorcycles can be more dangerous than cars, as
the recent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)’s report says motorcyclists are 30
times likely to die in an accident than people in a car.
Below are some tips, especially for new riders to stay safe on two wheels.
Invest in antilock brakes. Now available on a wide array models, antilock brakes are a
proven lifesaver. IIHS data show that motorcycles equipped with ABS brakes were 37
percent less likely to involve in a fatal crash than motorcycles without it.
Use your helmet. Although, helmets are an emotional topic for some riders, they give you
optimal protection.
Wear the right gear. Jeans, a T-shirt, and sandals are recipes for a painful disaster on
motorcycles. Wear yourself jeans, helmet, jacket, gloves and boots for your life safety.
Avoid bad weather. Slippery conditions reduce your margin for error. Rain not only cuts
your visibility but also reduces your tires’ grip on the road. This can make cornering tricky.
Be ready to roll. Before riding, do a quick walk-around to make sure your lights, horn, and
directional signals are working properly.
Steaming vegetables is one of healthy ways you can prepare them. When they are
steamed, vegetables don’t lose any of the nutrients and vitamins. Vegetable steamer baskets
have been used in different versions for centuries, but the basic concept remains the same.
Materials:
- Steamer basket
- Stove
- Water
- Vegetables to steam
Steps:
1. Rinse the vegetables of your choice in cool water and slice them into desired size if
pieces. Keep in mind that smaller pieces will take less time to cook.
2. Fill the medium pot roughly ½ full of water and set it on high heat until it boils
rapidly. Then, turn the heat to low.
3. Place the vegetables on the steamer basket and lower it into the pot. The water
should not cover the vegetables, but it is fine if it touches them.
4. Place a fitted lid tightly over the pot to capture the steam inside. Research cooking
times for whatever you are steaming in order to make sure you do not have to keep
lifting the lid and checking. This will allow too much of the steam to escape and
will significantly lengthen the cooking time. Properly steamed vegetables should
still have a firm texture.
5. Lift the steamer basket out with a pot holder, as it will be hot. Let the vegetables
stand in the steamer itself in the sink or a bowl to let excessive water drain out.
Once the vegetables are properly drain out. Once the vegetables are properly
drained, they are ready to serve.
6. “...in the sink or a bowl to let excessive water drain out.” (Step 5)

Making an Omelet
This is the way an omelet should be made. It is important that the frying-pan should be
proportionate to the number of eggs; in other word, to the size of the omelet. The frying-
pan must be made of iron not of aluminum, tin or enamel. And here I fell I must stress a
point, essential to what might be called the background of omelet-making, namely that the
frying-pan must never be washed with water but rubbed, when hot, with salt and tissue
paper, as this is the only way to prevent sticking.
For three papers, we take six eggs, break them into a bowl, season them with salt and
freshly ground pepper, and add a good teaspoonful of water. We beat this lightly with a

Have you ever been stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire? Do you want to be able to
change a tire without having to ask for help? Fortunately, changing a tire is a pretty simple
task, provided you're prepared and willing to exert a little effort.
1. Find a flat, stable and safe place to change your tire. You should have a solid, level
surface that will restrict the car from rolling. If you are near a road, park as far from
traffic as possible and turn on your emergency flashers (hazard lights). Avoid soft
ground and hills.
2. Apply the parking brake and put car into "Park" position. If you have a standard
transmission, put your vehicle in first or reverse.
3. Place a heavy object (e.g., rock, concrete, spare wheel, etc.) in front of the front and
back tires.
4. Take out the spare tire and the jack. Place the jack under the frame near the tire that
you are going to change. Ensure that the jack is in contact with the metal portion of
your car's frame
5. Raise the jack until it is supporting (but not lifting) the car. The jack should be
firmly in place against the underside of the vehicle. Check to make sure that the jack
is perpendicular to the ground.
6. Remove the hubcap and loosen the nuts by turning counterclockwise. Don't take
them all the way off; just break the resistance. By keeping the wheel on the ground
when you first loosen the nuts, you'll make sure that you're turning the nuts instead
of the wheel.
7. Pump or crank the jack to lift the tire off the ground. You need to lift it high enough
to remove the flat tire and replace it with a spare.
8. Remove the nuts the rest of the way. Turn them counterclockwise until they are
loose. Repeat with all lug nuts, and then remove the nuts completely.
9. Remove the tire. Place the flat tire under the vehicle so in the event of a jack failure
the vehicle will fall on the old wheel, hopefully preventing injury. If the jack is
placed on a flat, solid base, you shouldn't have any problems.
10. Place the spare tire on the hub. Take care to align the rim of the spare tire with the
wheel bolts, and then put on the lug nuts.
1. Find the phone number. Like the website, the phone number to activate the credit card
will likely be on the card. It may also be in the paperwork with the card.
2. Have your information ready. You'll likely need your credit card number, your
account number, and the security code on the back of the card. The account number
should be with the information that came with the card. You may also need your Social
Security number or your date of birth. You may be asked to give your full name.
3. Call the number. Once you dial the number, you will likely reach a recorded service.
Follow the directions given by the system. You may have to input information with the
keypad, such as your credit card number or security code.
4. Complete the process. Finish giving the system your information. Once you've given
all the information, your card will be activated.
5. Take off the sticker, and sign the card. Peel the sticker back from the card with the
activation information on it. Add your signature to the back of the card.

form.
7. Finally, you can apply it on any surface that you want to stick by using this
glue gun.

As we all know, water takes very important roles for our health especially for
teenagers and adults because those ages are very active. It is commonly recommended to
drink eight ounce glasses of water per day. Why is it important to keep hydrated?
First, water helps maximize physical performances, especially during intense exercise
or high heat. Losing as little as 2% of your body’s water content may alter body temperature
control, reduce motivation, increase fatigue and make exercise feel much more difficult, both
physically and mentally. So, if you exercise intensely and tend to sweat, then staying hydrated
can help you perform at your absolute best.
Next, water content in your body affects the work of organs and brain. In a study of
young women, fluid loss of 1.36% after exercise impaired both mood and concentration, and
increased the frequency of headaches. Another similar study, conducted to young men,
showed that fluid loss of 1.59% was detrimental to working memory and increased feelings of
anxiety and fatigue.
Furthermore, drinking plenty of water can help lose weight. This is due to the fact that
water can increase satiety and boost metabolic rates. In two studies, drinking half a liter of
water showed the increase of metabolism, by 24-30 for up to 1.5 hours. This means that
drinking 2 liters of water every day can increase our total energy expenditure by up to 96
calories per day. Drinking water half an hour before meals is the most effective. It can make
us feel fuller, so that we can eat fewer calories.
13. Which of the following statements is NOT true based on the text?
A. Dehydration can disturb your working memory
B. Water helps you to perform best while exercising
C. Our whole body contains water
D. You need drinking water before meals to lost weight
E. Water doesn’t influence your body’s metabolism

Fast food nowadays is considered as a normal eating venture. People are not just
eating out on special occasions or weekends anymore. It means that all the time they mostly
eat fast foods. However is fast food good for health?
Fast food has its popularity in the 1940’s. Within a few years, fast-food operations
popped up everywhere. With the compelling rise in fast-food restaurants since the 1940’s,
oddly it started the rise in obesity and cancer during that same time period.
Fast food is highly processed with a wide array of additives. To ensure fast food’s low
cost, the fast food products are made with highly-processed ingredients to give it shelf-life, to
hold consistency, and to enhance flavor. Fast food is altered from its original healthy form.
It is not the calories in fast food which damage health and waistline but its chemical
additives such as aspartame and MSG (monosodium glutamate). Studies show that the
chemical additives lead to weight and disease issues.
So, there is absolutely nothing nutritional about fast food. Fast food simply feeds hunger and
craving.
22. What are the effects if you eat fast food regularly?
A. Gain weight and cancer
B. Hunger and craving
C. Makes you more healthy
D. Obesity
E. Cancer and slimmer
23. “…fast food which damage health and…” (Paragraph 4, line 1)
What is the synonym of the underlined word?
A. Repair
B. Disadvantage
C. Failure

Television plays very important role in our lives, and it is also main source of
entertainment. We watch TV whenever we are free, or sometimes while working, and learn
many things from it. As the TV is used in our daily life, it broadcasts many live events and
news which educate us in many ways. But, sometimes children watch those programs on TV
which should not meant to be viewed by child's age group and have many negative impacts on
their lives.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that kids under 2 years old
not watch any TV and that those older than 2 watch no more than 1 to 2 hours a day. The first
2 years of life are considered a critical time for brain development. TV and other electronic
media can get in the way of exploring, playing, and interacting with parents and others, which
encourages learning and healthy physical and social development. As kids get older, too much
screen time can interfere with activities such as being physically active, reading, doing
homework, playing with friends, and spending time with family.
I believe that many children who watch TV for long hours, have many negative
impacts on their health such as they may weak their eye-sight at young age. In fact, these
children should spend most of their time playing and studying, which would give them better
result later and keep them healthy as well. If these children keep wasting their precious time
watching TV for long hours instead studying, it may affect their school result.
Many children tend to follow their favorite actors or actress and imitate them by
wearing same cloths, following same attitude and try to speak same languages. This becomes
worse when they watch any action movies and perform same actions at home, which might
injure them or change their behavior toward other people.
Television indeed can be a media to entertain and to teach children something. However,
programs in TV are not designed for children only; they also include some programs for adult.
Watching TV too much could make children following some clothes, attitudes, and language
which may be bad for them. Too much watching TV will also dilute children eyes. Thus,
watching TV too much is bad for children.

Social media Web sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and many others have
become nearly inescapable facets of modern life, particularly for teenagers. Social media is
becoming more than just a part of their world, it’s becoming their world. Teens are spending
more and more time online, usually on a social media platform like Facebook or Twitter.
Most teens now have smart phones where they are on social media networks all throughout
the day. They are constantly texting, tweeting, and posting pictures via Snapchat and
Instagram. However, hyper-connected to social media could be bad for them.
Today teens don’t know how to disconnect. Social media has allowed them to take
their life online from the time they wake up until they back to sleep via their smart phone.
One reason this “always connected” activity is harmful is because of the alarming trend of
cyberbullying. Bullying has now moved from not only being in the school and on the bus, but

Language is the mean of communication. Mostly groups of society have their own
languages. Some of them appear the top global languages. Most people in the world hear
about English, Arabic, and Mandarin. However, English is the most global spoken language.
Then if a man wants to catch a global goal, he has to master English.
Everyone recognize that English is an international language. English is used in
writing and speaking by many people all over the world. It can be either as a first or second
language. We even hear British, American, Australian, and even Singaporean English. Those
various names of English are used as the first language in those countries. Furthermore, some
countries have their own languages as a mother language but also use English mostly in daily
communication.
Besides usage in daily interaction, English is also used as a key to open doors leading
to scientific and technical knowledge. No wonder we find manual guides and instructions of
many devices written in English. Even if we have a pack of instant noodle, we will see the
cooking instruction also written in English. This transfer of science and technical will include
many countries in economic, social and politics development.
Finally, the most easily seen in the importance of learning English is that most top
requirement in filling job opportunities is the ability using English; active or passive. Job
applicants who master English are more favorable than ones who do not.
The facts above prove that everybody needs to learn English if he likes to greet the
global era.

Learning English through music and songs can be very enjoyable. You can mix
pleasure with learning when you listen to a song and exploit the song as a means to your
English progress. Some underlying reason can be drawn to support the idea why we use songs
in language learning.
Firstly, “the song stuck in my head” Phenomenon (the echoing in our minds of the last
song we heard after leaving a restaurant, shopping malls, etc.) can be both enjoyable and
sometimes unnerving. This phenomenon also seems to reinforce the idea that songs work on
our short-and-long term memory.
Secondly, songs in general also use simple conversational language, with a lot of
repetition, which is just what many learners look for sample text. The fact that they are
effective makes them many times more motivating than other text. Although usually simple,
some songs can be quite complex syntactically, lexically and poetically, and can be analyzed
in the same way as any other literary sample.
Furthermore, song can be appropriated by listener for their own purpose. Most pop
songs and probably many other types don’t have precise people, place or time reference.
In addition, songs are relaxing. They provide variety and fun, and encourage harmony
within oneself and within one group. Little wonder they are important tools in sustaining
culture, religion, patriotism and yeas, even revolution.
Last, there are many learning activities we can do with songs such as studying
grammar, practicing selective listening comprehension, translating songs, learning
vocabulary, spelling and culture.
From the elaboration above, it can be concluded that learning through music and songs,
learning English can be enjoyable and fun.

The teacher should give the homework for the students. Homework is the kind of
assignment that is usually given by the teacher for the students after explaining the material.
There are some reasons why homework should be given by the teacher for the students.
The first is that actually the purpose of the homework is helping the students to master
about the material that was given by the teacher before. The students will study again about
the material that was given by the teacher to do their homework well. And then if there is any
difficulties to do their homework, they will probably try to solve them by looking for the
material in other sources like internet, book, and etc. It means that students will be curious
about the material and try to improve their knowledge in order to master the material.
The second is the best way to manage time for studying is by giving the homework
for the students. The students will spend their time to study at home especially to do their
homework. I think it will give the good impact for the students especially the lazy students
who often spend their time only to play games the whole time. Those students will be pushed
to spend their time to do the homework and hopefully after they do it scarcely the lazy
students will be a diligent student.
The third is increasing the students’ responsibility. By giving the homework for the
students, they will have a responsibility to do the homework well. The students consider that
the homework will have influence in their score so they do it as well as possible.
47. Which one of the following statements is NOT true based on the text?
A. Homework increases students responsibility to do it well
B. Students should balance their time to study and be with their family
C. Homework absolutely makes students be the top rank in the class.
D. Homework should not be too much given by their teachers
E. Homework can help the students to learn the material again

Irene Joliot-Curie was a French scientist and the 1935 Nobel Prize in Chemistry
winner. As a daughter of renowned scientist Marie and Pierre Curie, she developed an early
interest in science.
During World War I, she worked with her mother for mobile field hospitals, operating
the X-ray machines that her mother developed. She then returned to Paris to study chemistry
at her parents’ Radium Istitute where wrote her doctoral thesis about radiation emitted by
polonium. At the same year, her future husband Frederic Joliot joined the Radium Institute.
Like her parents, they later decided to conduct research jointly.
In 1933, the Joliot-Curies made the discovery that radioactive elements can be
artificially produced from stable elements. This was done by exposing aluminum foil to alpha
particles. When the radioactive source was removed, the Joliot-Curies discovered that the
aluminum had become radioactive. For this research, the couple was awarded the Nobel Prize
in Chemistry in 1935.
This discovery had a significant impact and spurred research into radioisotopes and the
practical applications of radiochemistry, especially in medicine. For example, researchers
discovered isotopes such as a radioactive form of iodine, which was consequently used to
treat thyroid diseases. Since the Joliot-Curries’ discovery proved that radioactive isotopes
could be made relatively inexpensively, the difficult task of seperating naturally occuring
radioactive isotopes from their ores was no longer necessary.

Abraham lincoln was the 16th president of United States ( 1861-1865), who preserved
the State Union during the American Civil War and brought about the emancipation of slaves.
Among American heroes, Lincoln was seen having a unique appeal for his fellow
country men and people of other countries. This charm derived from his remarkable life story-
from the huratle origins to a dramatic death- and his distinctively human and humane
personality as well his historical role as the savior of the Union and emancipator of the slaves.
In his view, the Union was worth saving not only for its own sake, but also because it
embodied an ideal and the ideal of self-government.
In recent years, the politicalisation of Lincoln’s character and historical views in
particular, have come under close scrutiny, as scholars continue to find him a rich subject for
research. The Lincoln Memorial in Washingthon D.C, was dedicated to him on May 20th,
1922.

Faraday studied the magnetic field around a conductor carrying a DC electric current.
While conducting these studies, Faraday established the basis for the electromagnetic field
concept in physics, subsequently enlarged upon by James Maxwell. He similarly discovered
electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism, and laws of electrolysis. He established that
magnetism could affect rays of light and that there was an underlying relationship between the
two phenomena. His inventions of electromagnetic rotary devices formed the foundation of
electric motor technology, and it was largely due to his efforts that electricity became viable
for use in technology.
As a chemist, Michael Faraday discovered benzene, investigated the clathrate hydrate
of chlorine, invented an early form of the Bunsen burner and the system of oxidation
numbers, and popularized terminology such as anode, cathode, electrode, and ion.
Although Faraday received little formal education and knew little of higher
mathematics, such as calculus, he was one of the most influential scientists in history.
Historians of science refer to him as the best experimentalist in the history of science. The SI
unit of capacitance, the farad, is named after him, as is the Faraday constant, the charge on a
mole of electrons (about 96,485 coulombs). Faraday’s law of induction states that magnetic
flux changing in time creates a proportional electromotive force.
Faraday was the first and foremost Fullerian Professor of Chemistry at the Royal
Institution of Great Britain, a position to which he was appointed for life.
Albert Einstein kept a photograph of Faraday on his study wall alongside pictures of
Isaac Newton and James Clerk Maxwell.

Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England, on February 12, 1809. He
came from a wealthy family and never had to work. He studied medicine and theology. In
1831 he graduated from University of Cambridge with a degree of theology.
He began a career as a scientist quite by chance. On December 27,1831, 22 years old
Charles Darwin joined the crew of the HMS Beagle as a naturalist. The five years expedition
collected hydrographic, geologic, and meteorologic data from South America and many other
regions around the world. Darwin's own observation on this voyage led to his theory of
natural selection.
Charles Darwin was greatly influenced by the geologist Adam Sedgwick and naturalist
John Henslow in his development of the theory of natural selection, which was to become the
foundation concept supporting the theory of evolution. Darwin's theory holds that
environmental effects lead to varying degrees of reproductive success in individuals and
groups of organisms. Natural selection tends to promote adaptation in organisms when
necessary for survival. This revolutionary theory was published in 1859 in Darwin's now
famous On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel was a Swedish chemist, engineer, innovator, and ornament
manufacturer. He was the inventor of dynamite. He also owned Bofors, which he had
redirected from its previous role as primarily an iron and steel producer to a major
manufacturer of cannons and other ornaments. He held 355 different patents, dynamite being
the most famous. In his last will, he used his enormous fortune to institute the Nobel Prizes.
The synthetic element nobelium was named after him. He was the third son of Immanuel
Nobel and Andriette Ahlsell Nobel. Born in Stckholm on 21 October 1833, he went with my
family to Saint Petersburg in 1842, where his father invented modern plywood. He studied
chemistry with Professor Nikolay Nickolaevich Zinin. When he was 18, he went to the United
States to study chemistry for four years and worked for a short period under John Ericsson,
who designed the American Civil War ironclad USS Monitor.
Returning to Sweden, with his father after bankruptcy of his family business, he then
devoted himself to the study of explosives, and especially to the save manufacture and use of
nitroglycerine (discovered in 1847 by Acanio Sobrero, one of his fellow students under
Theophile-Jules Pelouze at the University of Turin). A big explosion occurred on 2 September
1864 at his factory in Heleneborg in Stockholm, killing five people. Among them was his
younger brother, Emil.
The foundations of the Nobel Prize were laid in 1895 when Alfred Nobel wrote his
last will, leaving much of his wealth for its establishment. Since 1901, the prize has honoured
men and women for outstanding achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and
for work in peace.

Picasso was one of the most outstanding and important artists of the 1900’s. He is best
known for his paintings. Almost every style in modern art is represented in Picasso's works.
Picasso was born in 1881 in Malaga, Spain as the son of an art teacher. He studied
painting from his father and his college level course of study at the academy of arts in Madrid.
From about 1895 to 1901, he painted realistic works in a traditional style. He, then,
entered what was called the Blue Period. During this time, he only used shades of blue in his
paintings to show the poverty he saw in Barcelona.
After 1908, he entered into the style of cubism. Among his well-known cubist
paintings are “Three Musicians” and “Man with a Guitar”.
Picasso died in Moughins, France in 1973. He was really great artist.

In 1982,1 died from terminal cancer. My condition was non-operable. I chose not to
have chemotherapy. I was given six to eight months to live. Before this time, I had become
increasingly despondent over the nuclear crisis, the ecology crisis, and so forth. I came to
believe that nature had made a mistake-that we were probably a cancerous organism on the
planet. And that is what eventually killed me.
Before my near-death experience, I tried all sort of alternative healing methods. None
helped. So I determined that this was between me and God. I had never really considered
God. Neither was I into any kind of spirituality and alternative healing. I read various
religions and philosophies. They gave hope that there was something on the other side.
I had no medical insurance, so my life savings went overnight on tests. Unwilling to
drag my family into this, I determined to handle this myself. I ended up in hospice care and
was blessed with an angel for my hospice caretaker, whom I will call "Anne." She stayed with

Singapore had the highest global average peak internet connection speed in the third
quarter of this year, and ranked third in the world in average internet connection speed,
according to a new report.
South Korea and Hong Kong took the top spots in average connection speed at 26.3
megabytes per second (Mbps) and 20.1 Mbps respectively, according to the Akamai State
of the internet report for Q3, released by Massachusetts-based content delivery network
services provider Akamai.
Singapore came in third at 18.2 Mbps, but led the pack in average peak connection
speed at 162 Mbps, with Hong Kong and South Korea trailing behind at 116.2 Mbps and
114.2 Mbps respectively.
This is the fifth consecutive quarter for which Singapore has snagged the top spot.
To explain the difference between average connection speed and average peak
connection speed, executive director of Deloitte Consulting in South-east Asia Jan
Wupperman used an analogy of a highway, The Straits Times reported in July.
"When the highway is empty, your car can go at its maximum speed, or peak
speed," he said. "But when there are many cars on the highway - such as when everyone is
using the same bandwidth for streaming, surfing and downloading during peak hours - you
end up with traffic jams, or a lower average speed."
Connectivity has grown globally, with the average connection speed growing 2.3
per cent quarter-on- quarter and increasing 21 per cent to 6.3 Mbps year-on-year, according
to Akamai's report.
The global average peak connection speed increased 3.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter
and 16 per cent year-on-year to 37.2 Mbps.
In the Asia-Pacific region, India had the lowest average connection speed at 4.1
Mbps, and the lowest average peak connection speed at 27.0 Mbps.

Madrid (Reuters) - Spain's most wanted thief, "The Loner," saw himself as a Robin

lawyer said Thursday.
Accused of killing three policemen and holding up more than 30 banks, Jaime Jimenez
Arbe was planning to move on to insurance companies when he was arrested last month,
Spanish media reported, citing lawyer Jose Mariano Trillo-Figueroa.
"I am not a killer and if I was obliged to shoot at officers of the law, it was always

the websites of newspapers El Pais and El Mundo.
Trillo-Figueroa said Jimenez, who robbed the banks disguised in a false beard and a

Robin Hood.
The Loner was arrested in Portugal, armed with a submachine gun in preparation for

Indonesia has embarked on the task of counting its islands in order to better protect its
territory and marine resources. It hopes to locate and name an additional 1,700 islands in time
for the UN Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names in August. Indonesia
wants to claim sovereignty and fishing rights in the waters surrounding the islands, many of
which its neighbors also claim.
The Indonesian government says illegal fishing in its waters is costing billions of dollars
in lost revenue each year. A fisheries spokeswoman told the BBC: "Sixty per cent of islands
in Indonesia don't have a name or officially have legal status, so they can easily be taken or
claimed by another country."
Indonesia is the world's largest archipelago. At the last UN conference on geographical
names in 2012, Indonesia registered 13,466 islands. A law in 1996 estimated that the number
of islands was 17,508. The UN Convention on the Law of the Sea defines an island as, "a
naturally formed area of land, surrounded by water, which is still exposed at high tide".
A spokesman from Indonesia's Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries explained the
scale of the task the counting team had. He said: "We have to visit every one of these islands,
and then we note the coordinates, the name, the meaning of the name, the history of the land
and describe the landscape and its geographical history…all that in great detail."

Wearing contact lenses may save you from wearing a pair of glasses that gets
bothersome at times, but it doesn’t come without its concerns, especially for those of you
wanting to put eye makeup on whilst wearing contacts.
Infections and irritation on the eye are some common concerns that you might be
worried about. And yet, wearing contact lenses shouldn’t keep you from putting on makeup
and feeling confident with a glamorous eye look.
Here are some tips to avoid chances of infection and irritation on your eye for those of
you wanting to put on makeup whilst wearing contact lenses, as compiled by tempo.co.
- Oil free cosmetics are the best kind of eye makeup for you. Being oil free reduces
the chances of the product coming into contact with your eyes.
- Use waterproof eye makeup, particularly mascara and eyeliner. Water resistant
products are less likely to smudge on the eyes, further protecting your eyes from
irritation against the contact lenses that you’re wearing. Avoid applying products
like eyeliner on the edges or inner surface of the eyelids.
- Even though makeup can last quite some time, avoid using a particular product for
more than three months. Bacteria builds up in your product, so for those that are
applied close to the eyes like mascara or eyeliner, replacing your product every
three months will better maintain hygiene and prevent eye infections.
