Reflection Assignment

Purpose: To reflect on your experience in Com 102 this semester and consider how your presentation
skills have developed. This assignment ties into the overall learning outcomes for Com 102 by giving
you an opportunity to assess your own progress as well as consider continued areas for improvement
in your communication skills.

Skills: Completing this assignment will help you practice the following skills

 Self-reflection on your progress

 Setting goals for continued improvement and success
 Written communication

Knowledge: This assignment will also help you review the following

 Presentation skills
 Communication confidence
 Verbal & nonverbal delivery of information
 Computer-mediated communication

Task: Think back to the beginning of the semester. Answer the following questions about your
experience in Com 102. Please be honest and thoughtful in your answers – in other words, don’t write
what you think we want to hear. Instead, provide your honest and truthful answers. Please number
your answers to make it easier for your lab instructor to grade your work (this is not an essay, just
answer each question). Write in complete sentences (do not use a bulleted list) and be as specific as
possible.

1) What is the most useful skill you have learned in this class? Describe how you will be able to use
this skill in the future (in other classes, jobs, etc.).
2) What skill have you improved the most during this class? Provide an example.
3) How has your confidence level about giving presentations changed since the beginning of the
semester?
4) What presentation skills do you still want to improve? How can you continue to work on
improving after you are done with this class?
5) Which do you find more challenging: delivering a live presentation to an audience, or delivering
a presentation to your webcam? Why is it more challenging?
6) Due to the current Coronavirus situation, what has been the most challenging part of
transitioning to online classes part way through the semester?
