1. In minimum 500 words, assess the impact of COVID-19 on the broader economy including the implications
to each Filipino family. You may cite personal experiences to emphasize you point.

COVID-19 is a disease appeared in Wuhan, China and killed thousands of people. Now, it spread
around the world and called “pandemic”. The virus can be transmitted from person-to-person, from animal-to-
person. According to World Health Organization, it is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not
been previously identified in humans. Most people infected will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness
and recover without requiring special treatment. As of today, it reached millions of confirmed cases of Covid-19
all over the world and over a thousand deaths.

The Infectious disease affects overall the economy. It is because of the economic measures that have
been taken to undermine the spread of the virus. Meaning, we gradually destroy it by actions under the
government, which is the lockdown, maintaining social distancing to control contaminate other. In which really
have huge impact to the growth of the economy. Also, the work and progress of the entire nation affects. The
crisis has already transformed an economic by disruptions to production and impacting the goods and services
which is the normal practice of our daily living. It is said that todays’ crisis, it is a way worse than the global
financial crisis. Because it damaging the overall living of people, losing jobs, collapsing market trade and
weakened the health systems.

The travel and tour industry also affected, we believe that the industry have highly impact to the growth
of the economy. Due to the pandemic coronavirus, it is obviously has no prospect of progress. People cannot
travel, social distancing requires and the exchange of goods across the international boarder affects. The
government take responsibility for the sake of the nation by implementing lack down in every city and
countries, also cancellation of flight. In the Philippines, Enhance Community Quarantine takes place resulting
of absence of foreign tourists. Even domestic tourists are hesitating too.

The government of the Philippines had acted appropriately on the coronavirus outbreak. The country
declared a health emergency cause by the local transmission of the virus. Implementing lack down to control the
virus, where the local governments releasing funds to support families. Quarantines or what we know as “lock
down” will be imposed in the Philippines barangays, municipalities, cities and provinces. We are not allow to
visit friends and relatives, attend large gatherings, parties and concerts. Even, religious practices are banned.
Now, barangay members, police officers and military personnel take actions to ensure the Filipino people will
follow with the government rules in lack-down.

As the coronavirus affects across the world, it is causing concerns, fear and stress, which is a natural and
normal reactions when there is a changing and uncertain event happened. It really affects the mental health of
everyone as we face this issue. Moreover, some people cannot manage and react to the stressful situation which
lead to very serious mental conditions. According to the study, there is a psychological impact of this disease on
the elderly, whether a covid-19 patient or not. The feeling of anxiety and stressed or angry can be particularly
experience by the elderly.

Everyday people used social media such as Facebook to foresee what might happen after the crisis we
are facing today. When it effectively contained. Well, as we observe, most people have a positive way of
viewing todays’ crisis. It helps our faith to be stronger. Most people believe that we are now facing this kind of
problem because God wanted us to restore ourselves and give our time to him. When I was watching 24 Oras,
Rogelio Bueno Jr., a Covid-19 patient, said that he always pray and he gets closer to God since the first day he
was quarantine. Rogelio promise that when he survived the illness, he will get more close to God and strive to
be a good person. People also seen in striving to act as one or what we know as “bayanihan” in fighting the
pandemic coronavirus. This crisis may change our faith and perspective in life after all, not just for Covid-19
patients but to every person.
