FAITH, HOPE and LOVE!

Ruth P. Lañojan

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly

discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience
mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.
Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious
illness. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about
the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and
others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently
and not touching your face. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of
saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s
important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a
flexed elbow). At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19.
However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.

This kind of infectious disease affected me of my spiritual aspect to become

stronger in my faith before Him and to my family as well. My parents had a hard time to
run their small business through the situation that we are in. They supposed to travel
from Mondays to Fridays to sell their products but they are not allowed to due to their
status as a senior citizen up to now. It could mean making big changes in everyday
routines due to financial hardships.
The community has affected much by following the rules in the barangays like observing
social distancing and especially always wear a mask wherever you are outside in your
house. Almost all the nations are struggling to slow down the transmission of the
disease by testing & treating patients, quarantining suspected persons through contact
tracing, restricting large gatherings, maintaining complete or partial lock down etc. This
paper describes the impact of COVID-19 on society and global environment, and the
possible ways in which the disease can be controlled has also been discussed therein.

Even though many people were affected of this COVID-19 however, people
still keep their hopes up to go back to normal situation as we used to do.
The frontliners have been asking for more protection like face masks, personal
protective equipment, testing kits and laboratories where the tests can be diagnosed
and people whether you are rich and poor could possible help to provide or meet their
needs and assistance as a volunteer. And many people were panicked because of this
Pandemic that we are facing.
It affected the whole world due to the new normal and all aspects like religious groups,
jobs, education and etc. Even in this hard times people spread their love by giving and
sharing things they have in their hands with their whole hearts.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remains: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

“We should cherish every moment with family not in spite of, but because of,
these dark times in which we live.”
