Hydraulic Jump - Type Stilling Basin

1. Using a 100-yr design flood of 171 m3/s and an 18-m width spillway,
determine the appropriate stilling basin floor elevation (denoted as z
in the figure) in order to prevent long apron and preventing sweep-out
of a hydraulic jump from the basin.

2. Select the type of stilling basin (based on USBR classification)


considering the crest length of 30 m and the design discharge of 425
m3/s for elevations of A equal to 0 m, 6 m and 12 m as shown in the
figure below.
