INPUT
What is literature?
Literature refers to compositions that deal with life experiences. It tells stories, dramatizes
situations, expresses, emotions, analyzes, and advocates ideas.
In the past, literary works were recited or sung, and were retained only as long as people
performed these oral acts by which these literary traditions are handed down from
generation to generation.
Literature helps us grow, both personally and intellectually.
Through reading, literature shapes our goals and values by clarifying our own identities--
both positively and negatively.
