INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

THREE (3) Questions. Answer ALL questions. (30 marks)

Type your name and ID on the cover page, attach it as the first page of your pdf
file.

All calculations are to be written in the blank papers.

Scan all your handwritten answers and cover page, save as ONE pdf file.

All simulation are to be done using Matlab.

Compress the pdf file and all Matlab files into ONE file (.zip or .rar), and label the
file with your name and ID, i.e. Chow Li Sze (1001234567).rar

Upload to the link provided in the CN.

Q1 Design a FFT digital processor for spectral analysis using Matlab, with the
following instruction:

(a) Generate a digital signal, x(n), sampled at 6,000 Hz, using 500 sample points:

2𝜋1000𝑛 2𝜋1700𝑛
𝑥(𝑛) = 𝑒 0.2 cos ( ) + √3cos⁡( )
6,000 6,000
(1 mark)

(b) Construct the time series of x(n).

(1 mark)

(c) Generate white Gaussian noise to the signal.

(1 mark)

(d) Construct the time series with white Gaussian noise.

(1 mark)

(e) Generate the DFT coefficient X(k) for the digital signal x(n) with Gaussian
noise, using FFT.
(1 mark)

(f) Construct the one-sided amplitude spectrum of the signal.
