EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The "We Care" internship for a period of three weeks began on January 28, 2019. Our team
served at Anthill Creations, NSRCEL,IIM Bangalore.
The organization is one of those that believes in the importance of play in our lives. It
spreads awareness by making playgrounds and play elements for schools and public parks,
where children can play and learn simultaneously.
The driving forces of the organization is its founder its Ms. Pooja Rai and team who
continuously strive to take the organization to greater heights.

We the students at NMIMS, Bengaluru were privileged to work in this NGO since we all also
believe play makes learning interactive and is important for growing children.

Anthill Creations offered us Projects which involved in visiting the sites of playground and
collect feedback about the same from the authorities and the users. We had also organized an
event in their potential schools for understanding the need of the customers. Apart from
these, we had organized a fundraising campaign for the organization.
INTRODUCTION TO THE ORGANIZATION

Anthill creation is an organization dedicated to enhance the experience of play

for all. Anthill Creations is a not for profit organisation which aims to bring
back play for all age groups by building sustainable playscapes, using
contextual designs and localized resources and encouraging community
participation. It is spread across multiple cities across India and abroad, Anthill
Playscapes are transforming the way people perceive play.
They began their journey with a small pilot at IIT Kharagpur in 2015, and have
impacted more than 10,000 children in a short course of time and will soon be
completing 1000 projects, bringing more smiles to remote, inaccessible corners
of the country. Playgrounds are made with love, each of them is unique in its
own way, designed contextually and integrating teaching elements for learning
through play. Using cost effective practices ranging from material exploration
of industrial waste to localized sourcing techniques, their playscapes are
modular and do-it-yourself, with a start-to-end construction timeline of less than
5 days. Their aim is to create interactive learning environments in public spaces
with a primary focus on sustainability.Their target audience consists not only of
children, for whom we envision a new knowledge revolution through space
design, but also of the elderly, the disabled, and the disengaged public catered to
by constructing enabling environments that encourage awareness, discussions
and meetups.
INTRODUCTION TO THE ISSUE AND PROJECT METHODOLOGY

The organization has around 15 playgrounds created in and around Bangalore. They have
also designed playgrounds in various cities of the country. These playgrounds includes public
park arenas and school play area. The key issue that the organization was facing was
regarding the feedback and maintenance of the play spaces. Also, the problem with
traditional social spaces for interaction is that they have been marred by traffic, congestion,
pollution, and lack of greenery and over population. With a focus on the 3R concept of
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, they attempt to create sustainable, long lasting and impactful
solutions.
Our project was related to provide feedback about the sites and remedies in improving the
quality and experience of the users. We were supposed to visit the already existing
playgrounds and collect feedback on the usage and the impact it has made on the users. The
playgrounds included play areas of government schools to public parks. Our secondary
project was to visit the potential schools that were interested in having play grounds made out
of tires. We visited the school and organized with engagement activities with the students to
understand their needs and requests regarding the classrooms as well as playground.
The responses thus obtained regarding the playground were documented with
recommendations that can be incorporated to keep the play-scapes organic and in shape such
that it doesn’t harm the users. The documented report was thus shared with the team of the
organization.
