*Tiger's Eye, a popular yet inexpensive gemstone, is a pseudomorph of compact Quartz after
the fibrous mineral Crocidolite. It is formed when the Quartz takes over and dissolves the
Crocodolite, leaving the Quartz in a finely fibrous and chatoyant form. When polished, it's silky
luster creates a beautiful chatoyant effect of moving layers of brown and yellow lines and
waves.

The orange arrow indicates a "tiger's eye" full of crocidolite inclusions, while the black arrow shows a "tiger's eye", where the
quartz free zone has no crocidolite inclusions.

ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS
-Lavrion (Lavreotiki) is one of the Earth's best "Laboratories" of Mineralogy. Its history is lost in Antiquity
and there are thousands of collectors and numerous Museums that have samples from Lavrion. New
minerals are being added to the known list of mineral species from Lavrion. The idea is to upload
beautiful images of Lavrion minerals to the site of IACLM in facebook,
https://www.facebook.com/groups/115645832341118/ ,and after gathering the so-called Lavrion
mineralogical species, we believe that it can be proposed to an International Publishing House, for
example. Elsevier, Springer-Verlag GmbH, etc. to fund and publish a monumental scientific work in
Mineralogy: The illustrated ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS which will surely become a best-seller
worldwide. This project will also include the names of all collectors, museums, educational institutes,
organizations etc. that will contribute with excellent quality photographs from their collection to the
site of the International Association of Collectors of Minerals of Lavrio. With this thinking you can
continue to upload mineral photos of Lavrion specimens with exact description and dimensions. So
everyone can follow the path of the first of the two projects we have announced. The dream will come
true if everyone helps.

Niagara Falls is located on the border between Canada and the United States. More specifically, between
the province of Ontario and the state of New York, on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into
Lake Ontario. It has the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, with a vertical drop of more than
50 meters. For instance, more than 168,000 cubic meters of water per minute run off in high flow
season. In 2015 I had the chance to visit the falls from the US side and the view was truly spectacular.
The story of the falls began 600 million years ago. The present site of the Great Lakes was the centre of
a broad, shallow sea that covered much of North America. Beneath its waters were the already ancient
Pre-Cambrian rocks of the Canadian Shield –the bowl-shaped basement of America’s continent.
For 100 million years, rain, wind and waves corroded the rocks. This fine-grained material collected
gradually in the sea bottom, depositing soft sediments on the harder Pre-Cambrian rock.
Successive earthquakes pushed forth the Appalachian Mountains, resulting in rivers flowing in new
patterns, carrying mud westward. At the convergence point of the rivers, huge muddy deltas formed,
sprawling over 600 kilometers, from east of what is now Lake Ontario to beyond the present shore of
Lake Huron. This mud, solidified by the eons, forms the distinctive purple-red shale called the
Queenston Formation and the sandy ledge-forming rocks of Niagara Gorge.
The region over the current site of the falls was tropical, for North America lay much closer to the
equator than it does today. In this warm sea, microorganisms built massive honeycombed coral reefs and
when they died, the churning water destroyed their homes, sending lime to the sea floor. The Lockport
Dolomite, which forms the caprock of the Niagara Escarpments, consists largely of these ground-up coral
reefs.
By 300 million years ago, the inland sea had drained away, resulting in the formation of a layer of
sediments on the Pre-Cambrian shield nearly five kilometers deep. Fifty million years later, while the
first reptiles were slowly establishing their dominion over the planet, great rivers were formed in North
America, etching patterns into this soft, sandy rock and undermining the harder limestones. This random
erosion formed the basins of Lakes Michigan and Huron, and later, Erie and Ontario.
All the while, though, Canada had been slowly moving farther north, a raft of basalt and granite floating
upon a magma sea. This continental drift completely changed the landscape.
During the last Ice Age – the Wisconsin Glaciation – the polar circle expanded greatly, covering most of
Canada in a vast sheet of ice a kilometer and a half thick. Eventually the face of the glacier, taller than
the tallest skyscraper, extended to the east as well as to the west from where tourists view Niagara Falls
today.
Twelve thousand years ago, the ice drew back far enough to expose a small channel to the Hudson
Valley, located near the present site of Rome, New York. The waters in the western end of the Ontario
basin began to drain through this new outlet.
Year after year, the water level sank until the Niagara Escarpment was exposed. Lake Erie spilled over
the top of the Escarpment to a lower level, a basin called Lake Iroquois that was the forerunner of Lake
Ontario. At first, the Erie waters drained to the lower lake by way of a small intermediate lake called
Tonawanda, which, in turn, drained over the escarpment through several small waterfalls. But gradually
the drainage from Erie to Iroquois concentrated into one channel, the ancestor of the Niagara River.
Lake Iroquois was roughly the same shape as the future Lake Ontario, but its water level was higher and
its basin larger. The ice that still lay near the Thousand Islands blocked the drainage of the lake water to
the St. Lawrence Valley. Niagara-on-the-Lake was submerged and the Iroquois waters covered the top of
Queenston Heights.
Finally, the ice sheet stopped growing, because of the slight increase in the average yearly temperature.
The leading edge of the glacier began to melt, forming a giant muddy region with boulders. Then, the ice
pulled away from The Thousand Islands, and as a result the waters of Lake Iroquois began to surge
through this newly opened channel in a spectacular rush and eventually drained into the Atlantic.
The glacier waned, but the hundreds of cubic meters of water from the melted ice had to go somewhere.
A large amount of it flowed into the oceans, a part of it evaporated, while the rest pooled into hollows
and ruts scraped into the land by the glacier, including the basins of the Great Lakes. The Earth's crust,
relieved of the weight of the ice, began to spring back, changing the drainage patterns. Thus, the flow of
water through the Niagara River started.

ABSTRACTS
The point of reference for all Climate Change issues is the WATER and the AIR we breathe, because without them
there is no life.
Before man appeared on Earth, all natural phenomena were due to the rhythms of the Planet keeping its
equilibrium in accordance with its own rules.
--- After the appearance of man, the number of anthropogenic interventions on Earth began to increase with
numerical progress first and then with geometric progress. Covering a long period of Human History, man began to
extract minerals (iron ore, manganese, nickel, cobalt, etc.), also non-ferrous e.g. copper, lead, tin, bauxite etc as well
as gold, silver, platinum and non-metallic minerals e.g. mica, sulfur, rocks (granites, limestone, marble, sandstone)
and all of them needed energy that, in addition to hydroelectric power, received energy from coal mining, lignite
and oil and gas extraction.
Copper , an element used in mobile telephones ,is extracted from copper deposits, and of course copper is
needed not only for mobile telephones. The construction of the mobile requires other elements besides copper.
Television construction requires materials extracted from 35 minerals.
When a copper deposit or any other deposit is discovered, at first the mining field is small and as the mining
progresses, the mining field grows. These mines are at the same time 'wounds' to the environment and there are'
Copper wounds', 'Lead wounds',' Uranium wounds' ',' Gold wounds', 'Bauxite wounds' (from which aluminum is
obtained),' Chrome wounds' "," Diamond wounds "," wounds, wounds, wounds! And after man has found almost
all the mineral deposits on Earth's surface, it goes deeper, where it will begin to affect the aquifers as well.
The Earth is a body that evolves dynamically over the course of the Geological Age. It has enormous digestive
and regenerative abilities, but all things in life have a limit. As the population of the Earth grows, demands for raw
materials increase, disputes over anthropogenic intervention increase, and so do the "wounds" mentioned above,
despite what is said and written about restraining or limiting consumer goods and leading a simpler life. When a
wound is created in the human body, then the body's immune system reacts immediately to the wound healing.
When wounds on a person's body grow beyond a certain limit, then the immune system is unable to heal them
and the consequences are unpredictable. Therefore, an increase in the Earth's population, an increase in
anthropogenic interventions, an increase in the Earth's "wounds" means unpredictable situations. It is a typical
case of prediction, not suppression for the humanity , if there is still time.
- We insist on : Clean water, clean air , health and peace !
, .
We can contribute to these by having simple life , being authentic and Nature s Lovers.
