Summary

Difficulties Faced by an ESP Practitioner as well as his roles

Esp encompasses more than the role of teacher as a practical discipline it hovers

over a variety of fields, but the user must adapt to them covering all the content

related to the subject of practice as a result we can infer that an Esp practitioner

becomes a teacher when the students are predisposed to acquire knowledge. In

Esp expertise is well known that the students might know more than the teacher

about the subject since its their comfort zone therefore a good Esp teacher would

draw n the knowledge of the students to enrich the learning experience, the main

role here is to organize or conduct this said knowledge in a way that compels with

the aims of the class. Subsequently to achieve the fulfillment of the course goals

the Esp practitioner transforms into a course designer and a material provider to

assess the effectiveness of the material based on the suitability for the students

thus the Esp capacitate oneself to evolve into a researcher since the provider (us)

need to identify the students’ needs and perform even a TSA to be able the

requirements of the group moreover is imperative that a ESP teacher learns how to

analyze data thus becoming a researcher to evaluate and conduct the teaching
process, after inducing these points the teacher might become a collaborator

assisting and working together with the subject teacher which provides the carrier

content to develop the class and finally the practitioner bear the role of an

evaluator to the course the students and the material being the one who acts as a

monitor. Esp itself has seen several shares of trouble within his development such

as the lack of orthodoxy: which relates to the relative recent emergence of Esp

such being the situation that there is not an unified guideline or stablished concept

about authenticity of the material bearing on the teacher as a counter measure for

this difficulty coupled with this is the appearance of new realms knowledge once

again burdening the teacher as he must cope with great knowledge in subject

matter content as a moat to advance in the ELT field in addition ELT has changed

in such a way that the teacher often becomes a negotiator to fulfil the expectative

of the students and other experts on the field is here when a learning centered

approach appears as a hero to fill the gap between teacher and content subject

matter making the students part of the solution is also positive since in them ESP is

focused in conclusion, ESP has undergone several changes and faced many

problems, but the teacher capacity to cope with them is a determinant factor in the

evolution of Esp towards a better learning centered approach
