CARDINAL CABINET HEAD POSITIONS

*** all cardinal cabinet heads report to the Director of Programming and Assistant to the Risk
Management/ Social Chair reports to the Risk Management/ Social Chair.

General Cardinal Cabinet Head duties, expectations, and roles:


- Work one function each semester.
- Meet twice a month with the Director of Programming.
- Meet twice a month with individual cabinets.
- Fill out the chapter minutes and slides each week and speak at chapter (sitting in the
front row behind exec).
- Meet with the National Consultant in the spring.
- Go through a Cardinal Cabinet Head training in the fall after slating/leadership selection.
- Communicate with the Director of Programming, the exec board, and each other to
create, facilitate, and plan events, and provide sign-in or sign-up sheets to the Director of
Programming for points purposes.
- Create applications for the Cabinet and make selections.

Marketing Cardinal Cabinet Head (


Duties, Roles, and Expectations:
- Must have time during the week to hold meetings with your Cabinet
- In charge of all forms of social media (Instagram, FB, Twitter, etc.) and the Chi Omega
website
- Organization and willingness to work is essential since the position is so new
- Must keep a calendar that indicates specific dates that tasks need to be completed or
posts need to be made (on Instagram, the blog, and other social media)
- Ensure everyone is on the same page (within the Social Media Team and beyond)
- Must be capable of delegating
- Confront members who are not performing their jobs to the best of their ability
- Allows for a lot of creativity and innovation
- Creates a social media plan that encapsulates all of our purposes and showcases
the diversity within our chapter (of members, activities, etc.)

Sisterhood Cardinal Cabinet Head


Duties, Roles, and Expectations:
- Plan & execute all sisterhood events
- Create new and fun ideas to bond the chapter
- Plan and execute senior dinner in the spring
- Senior superlatives
- Work 1 function a semester
- Attend all CC meetings
- Hold meetings with your cabinet twice a month

- PASSIONATE about Chi Omega and sisterhood
- Budgeting

Campus Activities Cardinal Cabinet Head


Duties, Roles, and Expectations:
- Guide people with USC campus activity involvement
- Understand how to work Garnet Gate and guide members if necessary
- Responsible for coming up with ideas about how to emphasize campus involvement
- Works with the Homecoming/Greek Week Chair and Committee to implement
Homecoming and Greek Week events, generate chapter involvement, attend events
themselves, and incentivize attendance (including Homecoming points)
- Assisting with any questions about campus activities at USC
- Must be aware of campus-wide activities, events, and experiences that the university
puts on
- Constantly check email for updates
- Planning and executing events outside of just Homecoming and Greek Week

Community Service Cardinal Cabinet Head


Duties, Roles, and Expectations:
- Plans community service events
- Relates community service opportunities within Columbia and USC
- Facilitates, organizes, and maintains Epworth as the local philanthropy
- Discern which events are worth doing so as not to spread the chapter too thin
- Work with alum to create events
- Works with the Philanthropy Cardinal Cabinet Director to implement any Wish Send-Off
parties
- Organize donation and drop-off points
- Correspond with the Director of Programming for points purposes

Career and Personal Development Cardinal Cabinet Head


Duties, Roles, and Expectations:
- Works with the Alumni Relations Director in order to facilitate events, mentorship, and
newsletters with alumni
- In charge of the new self-care initiative, Ever at Heart
- Deals with facilitation, creation, and planning of events
- Instigates chapter use of the hashtag #EveratHeart
- Makes the chapter aware of resources on campus in order to best take care of
themselves and their sisters
- Alerting the chapter about services on campus in regard to career development including
resume building, LinkedIn services, etc. as well as events, programs, and experiences
offered by USC
- Throwing events for the chapter in order to best showcase career development
opportunities including bringing in speakers about marketing strategies and taking
LinkedIn headshots
- Maintains a balance of both career but also personal/self-care events and opportunities
- Facilitates GreekLife Edu/Risk Management Training for all pledge classes
- Corresponds with Nationals in order to ensure our total is at 85% or higher
- Keeps tabs on the data within the Chi Omega dashboard as distributed by
Nationals
- Keeps a running list of people who have and have not completed it
- Corresponds with the chapter about deadlines, statistics, etc.

Philanthropy Cardinal Cabinet Head


Duties, Roles, and Expectations:
- Organize both annual philanthropy events (War of the Wings and Chi O Cook Off) as
well as delegate tasks for members of the philanthropy team
- Plan out a timeline for the event and a timeline for each member of the philanthropy
team in relation to their specific job
- Hold weekly philanthropy team meetings for progress updates and planning
- Solidify the venue and a date
- Manage the philanthropy budget and total spending for the event
- Get the event approved by Make-A-Wish SC
- Communicate with Make-A-Wish SC to send in donations received every few weeks
- Collect 5+ addresses from each chapter member and send out donation requests via
mail or email
- Motivate everyone in the chapter to work toward a monetary goal for Make-A-Wish SC
- Make a chapter job list for the day of the event and a process to check girls into their
jobs
- Plan any fundraisers leading up to the event
- After the event, send out thank you notes as well as add up all donations so that the total
can be reported to Make-A-Wish SC, the chapter, the public and the national Chi Omega
dashboard
- Make a speech during the Philanthropy Round of recruitment
