ABSTRACTS

This report is related with fences and fences. UiTM Seri Iskandar was selected as the case
study area. The main purpose of this case study is to study the various uses and benefits of
fencing and gates in external work. This title is selected and carried out to identify
definitions, types, components, methods of construction and common problems or defects
and settlement of fencing and gates. This means the fencing and gates is an important element
in this matter.

There are many types of fencing and gates that we found out in this case study such as chain
link fencing (galvanized), chain link fencing with barbed wire, galvanised fence, build-up
concrete fencing, hedge fence, metal gate with roller, metal gate (hinged), wicket gate
(roller), aluminium gate and chain link gate with barbed wire. The method of construction not
very difficult but it is quite complicated so it must be carefully installed. The step of
construction methos is setting out, excavating holes for posts, struts, special posts and other
supports, installing post or support structures and installing infill material

There are also minor issues with fencing and gates including installation problems, leaning
fence posts, fences or fallen panels, local laws and property lines, rot an insects damage and
gate doesn't swinging properly and freely. But there are many ways to avoid and solve all the
problems.
CONCLUSIONS

In conclusion, we know that fencing and gate it has been used for many years that encloses
an area, typically outdoors, and is usually constructed from posts that are connected by
boards, wire, rails or netting. Fencing and gates are extensively useful and they are used for
agricultural fencing to keep livestock or predators out, to provide privacy, to enhance the
appearance of property, to demarcate a boundary and provide safety and security.

In the other words, fencing and gates have a lot of uses. There are a lot of types fencing and
gates such as chain link fencing (galvanized), chain link fencing with barbed wire, galvanised
fence, build-up concrete fencing, hedge fence, metal gate with roller,metal gate (hinged),
wicket gate (roller), aluminium gate and chain link gate with barbed wire. The construction
method of each type is quite complicated. There are a lots of step of it. Fencing and gates also
have a common problem which is installation problems, leaning fence posts, fences or fallen
panels, local laws and property lines, rot an insects damage, gate doesn’t swinging properly
and freely.

Overall, this study case has taught us and enchance our knowledge about fencing and gates.
Finally, we more understand to how the contruction method of fencing and gates, the
definition, types, components, construction method and the common problems or defects and
solution of fencing and gates. It also gave us more understanding about our studying in
Building Construction lll, especially in fencing and gates. In overall, it was a great experience
for us.
