PROJECT SPECIFICATION
1.0 This specification defines the requirement of Self acting pressure reducing valve for GUJARAT FLUROCHEMICALS

LTD. at Dahej, for t COMMON UTILITY PLANT.

2.0 This specification should be read in conjunction with basic requirements specified in datasheets, Local regulations
and general specifications for Self acting pressure reducing valve Doc. No. INST/GS/552 attached alongwith this

specification.
3.0 In the event of conflict between these documents, the order of precedence shall be as indicated below:

- Local Regulations.

- Datasheets & this specification

- General Specification

PROJECT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS


1.0 Pneumatic Requirements
Air supply range at inlet to air filter regulator is 3.5 Kg/cm2g (Min) & 6.0 kg/cm2.g(Normal) .

2.0 All items shall be certified for weatherproof to IP-65 as a minimum.

3.0 Accessories required if any like Air filter regulators etc shall be mounted

on the valve body. The Instrument air tubing shall be factory installed and shall be 1/4" O.D. SS316.

All required fittings shall be SS316 compression type (double compression) .

4.0 Vendor shall if required supply air filter regulator with metal bowl and with 5 micron or better filter element, removable

E

drain plug and output gauge. AFR shall be provided with each valve. The pneumatic connection shall be 1/4" NPT (F).

5.0 All CS body valves as well as actuators, Air filter regulator etc. shall be Epoxy painted in accordance with

manufacturer's standard.

6.0 The flange finish for all the tags shall be as per 125-250 AARH.

7.0 PLANT ENVIRONMENT & SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

a) As plant area is laden with corrosive/ hazards, suitable protection is required on relevant components/
S
E

enclosures. The exact details as per offered items shall be specified by vendor in the offer like anti-corrosion
S
E

painting, anti-charge protection etc.


S
E

b) All valves on fire hazard service shall be certified firesafe in design as per API607and to be provided with
S
E

fusible link.

c) Radoigraphy test shall be carried as per data sheets.

8.0 DOCUMENTATION

a) Vendor shall prepare an offer that includes two separate parts of quotation as segregated in datasheets.
S
E

b) Vendor to submit complete assembly drawing with dimensional details, make, model nos.with decodification
S
E

opening & closing time and weight etc. along with the offer & during post order stage for review/ approval.

c) Bidder to confirm the body sizes in the bid. Bidder to furnish detailed calculation sheet indicating the Cv, % opening
at specified flow. Bidder to include Noise calculations as well as indicate the required treatment.

9.0 SPARE PHILOSOPHY

10.0 INSPECTION: The supplier is responsible for the quality of fabrication and adherence to dimensions in approved

drawings.The supplier will follow all specifications on drawings or specification documents approved by GFL /
S
E

AKPG. GFL does reserve the right to inspect at any stage during the fabrication cycle. GFL will be notified of the
S
E

following by the supplier:

E

I.Time at which the majority of equipment fabrication is assembled for varification of dimentions & design.
S
E

II. Final inspection, before shipment to facility or X-works.

Supplier shall notify GFL & AKPG at least two weeks in advance of the anticipated inspection dates for the two
S
E

options above. GFL will reserve the option to inspect or appoint AKPG/ third party for inspection.

1. SCOPE
1.1. This specification defines the minimum requirements for Construction, Performance
and features of the equipment listed in the accompanying specification with data sheet.
1.2. This specification applies to following types of regulating valves :
1.2.1. Pressure Reducing Valve
1.2.2. Back Pressure Regulating Valves
1.2.3. Vacuum Regulators
1.2.4. Vacuum Breakers
2. PURPOSE
2.1. The Pressure Regulating Valves shall be supplied strictly in accordance with the
following documents.

2.2. In the event of conflict between these documents, the order of precedence shall be as
per clause 2.1 above.
2.3. The vendor shall list all deviations in their offer and fully describe each deviation.
3. GENERAL
3.1. Tagging
3.1.1. A permanently attached (with drive pins or equal ) stainless steel tag(s) stamped
with the following information shall be provided on each valve.:

3.2. Packing
3.2.1. All ports and opening shall be sealed. Threaded connections shall be protected
with metallic or moulded plastic caps or plugs.
3.2.2. Line connections shall be covered with wooden, plastic or metal friction plugs,
caps or flanges to exclude foreign material from the interior of the valve and to
fully protect the faces of flanged valves from damage during shipment.
3.2.3. It is the responsibility of the instrument vendor to ensure that the equipment is
adequately protected and packed to meet the shipping and delivery requirements.
3.2.4. Machined surfaces which may be exposed to the atmosphere in transit and
subsequent storage shall be properly protected with an easily removable rust
preventative coating of the proper consistency applied by the manufacturer, but
not until inspection, if required, has been completed.
3.2.5. The paint finish of the valve shall be such as to meet the requirements of
industrial atmospheres.
3.3. Vendor Responsibilities
3.3.1. The vendor shall be responsible for verification of the selection of Valve size,
type and material for each application in accordance with the information
furnished.
3.3.2. Information on the data sheets relating to valve size, type and material shall not
relieve the vendor of the responsibility for verification of the most suitable valve
for each application.
3.3.3. The calculated CV based on the maximum plant design capacity, shall be 60-80%
of the selected valve CV.
3.3.4. Vendor shall submit necessary sizing calculation and regulator characteristics
curves considering droop pressure.
4. DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
4.1. The Pressure Regulating Valves shall be of self actuated spring loaded type or pilot
operated.
Pilot operated valves shall be used for high flow rate and precise pressure control
application.
4.2. Series Regulation can be considered wherever required. In such cases, the failure of
anyone of these series regulators, regulator should withstand the maximum inlet
pressure. Vendor shall supply integrated assembly with Pressure gauges to monitor
pressure reduction at each stage.

4.3. Certain application such as upstream pressure control of the process connected to flare
may require the stringent seat leakage as class V. Such applications shall be addressed
in the Data sheet.
4.4. Vacuum Regulators, when specified, shall maintain a constant vacuum at the inlet of
the valve.
4.5. Vacuum Breaker, when specified are intended for application where increase in
vacuum needs to be limited. Vacuum breaker shall be bench set at the factory.
4.6. Material
4.6.1. The body and trim materials have been specified in the data sheet. Vendor,
however, can recommend better material suitable for intended application.
4.6.2. For sour gas, Refinery and Oil field application, material of Construction shall
conform to NACE MR 01-75, MR-01-03 standard as applicable (latest edition).
4.7. Valve bodies with flanged ends shall have pressure/temperature ratings at least equal
to the standard applicable to the end flanges.
4.8. All castings shall be true to form, free from shrinkage, strains, scale, lumps, blisters,
sandholes or other defects. All machining operations shall be performed so that
wherever possible, all parts of valves of the same size, type and pressure rating are
interchangeable
4.9. An arrow indicating the direction of flow should preferably be cast on the valve body
4.10. For sizing valves in gas service, molecular weight should be used and not specific
gravity/ density.

5. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
5.1. The Self Acting Pressure Regulating Valves shall have pressure Regulator within ±
5% of the set pressure for the maximum flow.
5.2. For Pilot operated valves the regulation accuracy shall be within ± 2% of set pressure
for the maximum flow.
6. SPARES
Vendor shall quote Spares for 2 years trouble free operation.
