CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
( JUDE YOUNG )
Solid Wastes is the useless and unwanted products in the solid state derived
from the activities of and discarded by society. It is produced either by - product of
production processes or arise from the domestic or commercial sector when objects or
materials are discarded after use. Solid wastes can be solid, liquid, semi-solid or
containerized gaseous material. Waste is generated continuously in every single way from
our daily activities. Each activity will generate different types of waste which will requires its
own separate or specialize treatment.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study is mainly concerned in the impact of Solid Waste Management in the
University. In this study, the researcher wishes to answer the following question:

1. What are the Solid Waste Management Practices?


2. What are the Solid Waste Management program and practices of the University?
3. What are the problems encountered in the implementation of the program?
4. What are intervention program can be formulated to address the gaps?

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY


( ROSELLE SENA )
This study aims to know the importance of the Solid Waste Management in the
University. This study shall achieve the following:
1. Know the effects of solid waste in the University
2. Identify the solid waste management program and practices of the University
3. Identify the problems and challenges in the implementation of the solid waste
management programs
4. Formulate effective approaches for the successful program implementation

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION


( ROSELLE SENA )
This research aims to know about the Solid Waste Management in the University.
For data gathering, we will provide questionnaires to be answered by 10 students, 10 faculty
members and staff and 10 community members, total of 30 respondents all in CBSUA - Pili.
We will also use library and electronic sources and ideas as well as responses from the
subjects. This study focus only on the Solid Waste Management and it covers only the
environment in the campus.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
( ROSELLE SENA )
This research is concerned in knowing the Solid Waste Management is important
and beneficial for the university environment.

With this research, the following groups shall be benefited.


1. University Environmental Management Organization – The data gathered can
be utilized by the organization in planning for more effective ways in
implementing solid ways management in the university.
2. Students – The students will be more aware of the effects of solid ways and the
importance of its management.
3. Faculty and Staff – The faculty and staff will be guided about the ways and things
that they can share to the students and community members to help in the
success of solid waste management in the university.
4. The Researchers – The researchers shall not only apply their knowledge and gain
new learnings, but also share ideas on how they can help solve problems in solid
wastes.
5. Community – The community will also be aware on what they can do in
addressing solid waste management problems.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter present the overall design and methodology that was used in this study.
This include the Research Design, Research Locale, Respondents of the Study, Sampling
Technique, Instrumentation, Data Gathering Procedure, Analysis of Data and Statistical Tool
to be used.

This study will be held at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (Main Campus)
San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur on MM/DD/YY.

Respondents of the study


The Respondents of the study are the 10 students, 10 faculty members and staff and
10 community members, total of 30 respondents all in Central Bicol State University of
Agriculture (Main Campus) San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.
