Introduction
• What are correlative conjunctions?

Development
• Interactive Grammar Notebooks (9.1 & 9.2)
o Each student gets p. 188
• Teacher cuts out p. 188, cuts down the middle, and
dotted lines. Students do the same.
• Teacher pastes ^^ on a lined sheet of paper.
Students paste ^^ in their gluing notebooks.
o ***Only put glue on “Correlative” and
“Conjunctions” strips***
• Teacher folds back flaps. Students do the same.
• Teacher and students fold back “but” and “and” flaps
and write sample sentence.
o Put flaps back.
• Fold back “either” and “or” and write sample
sentence. Repeat until all sample sentences (5) are
written.
• All materials, except gluing notebooks, are put away.
• Teacher passes out Correlative Conjunctions
Homework Practice #1 worksheet.
o Teacher and students do problems #1 and
#2 together.
Independent Practice
• Students independently do problems #3 - #15
(which are a total of 9 problems).
Closing
• Students turn in completed work. If problems aren’t
completed, they are homework.
Assessment Evidence:
Students will complete a
nine-question worksheet to
determine the most
appropriate correlative
conjunction pair for each
problem.
Accommodations:
• Correlative Conjunctions Homework Practice #1
worksheet only requires students to circle their answer.
• Students can write the sample sentences on an adjacent
sheet in their gluing notebooks if the spaces under the
flaps are too small.
• The teacher will model how to cut and paste p. 188 into a
glue notebook.
