WHAT HAPPENS

WHEN COCA-
COLA IS MIIXED
WITH BAKING
SODA
AND MYNTZ?

BY AVNI MURARKA
QUESTION

 What happens when Coca-Cola is exploded with mixed with baking soda and myntz?
RATIONALE

 If somebody wants to do a cool project at home with limited materials, this is a cool
experiment for them
RESEARCH

 Mentos explode when mixed with any soda because if a bottle of soda gets shaken,
it releases the gas bubbles. This causes a foamy small explosion when you open it.
 Baking soda works differently because when you drop it into Coca Cola it forms more
and more carbon dioxide but when Mentos are dropped in there is already enough
carbon dioxide.
 The myntz, a company that makes mints, is just a little booster.
HYPOTHESIS

 My hypothesis is that the only baking soda will work because then though
the myntz boost, their boost might impact the baking soda explosion. I also think that
the only myntz will go the worst because just like how a rocket won’t fly with a small
boost, Coca Cola won’t explode with a small boost.
SUPPLIES
 2 cans of 12 oz. Coca Cola

 A 6 oz. Measurer

 3 big bowls

 12 oz. Baking Soda

 10 mint flavored Myntz

 A piece of cloth
PLAN
 Measure 6 oz of Coca Cola

 Put 6 oz of Baking Soda and 5 Myntz in a bowl

 Pour the Coca Cola and then run backwards

 Repeat but this time you put only 6 oz of Baking Soda in the bowl

 Repeat again but this time put 5 Myntz in the bowl

RESULTS

 Looking at our results, it is clear that our original hypothesis was wrong. One way we know it is wrong is that the
coca cola in the baking soda and myntz overflowed. We think this happened because the myntz was the first to start
bubbling in of and then the baking soda continue.

 Another interesting that that happened was that the baking soda didn’t completely mix with the coke, it was
made into a thick paste. I think this was because the soda was in a whole bunch so the it had a stronger bond.
