Activity Describe what the
learning activity will be. What will
the students and the teacher be
doing with the app?
This unit is our first unit in Latin I. I will be teaching
students the basics of Latin. They will learn words,
phrases, simple sentences, and short passages the
first week. Additionally, we will begin working on
reading comprehension and answering questions
about Latin passages. This unit will mainly focus on
basic Latin vocabulary skills. In order for students to
become familiar with Latin vocabulary, I will have
them use the device “Flashcards” on their mobile
phones or other personal devices. After going over
key terms with students in class and performing an
interactive lesson, I will hand out a sheet of paper to
each student with key Latin terms/definitions. They
Google Classroom is a great way for students to
collaborate digitally. Today, my class will be using
Google Documents to collaborate on a Latin
assignment. Students can access one document by
sharing emails. Once they have access to the same
document, they can begin working on it together
simultaneously. Before they start the assignment, I
will be creating an interactive document. The
document will contain questions that the students
have to answer about Latin passages, videos with
questions attached below for students to answer, fill
in the blanks, matching definitions and terms, and
other interactive components. I will be grouping
TLED 430
will use this paper to begin creating their own digital
flash cards on their device. On the sheet I give them,
some of the definitions will be missing a term and
vice versa for some of the terms. Other terms will be
complete. For terms or definitions that need to be
completed, students will have to use their resource
books or google to find the answers. Once they have
completed their digital flashcards, they will send me
the link so that I can review them and check them off
for a grade. Throughout this unit, students will be
able to use their flashcards as a guide and to study for
the exam.
Technology
Technology Flashcards-Study, Memorize, and Build Vocabulary
students in groups of three. This assignment will be
graded as an in-class workshop and also be worth 10
participation points. The great thing about Google
Documents, is that I can also go in and see who
worked on the document and how long each
individual spent working on the document. This
helps to ensure that all students participated in the
activity.
Google Classroom/ Google Documents
