In our case study, we are interested at conception and design of a building in reinforced
concrete. In this study we are designing a 4 story hostel building.
DESIGN CONSIDERATION
Bed room slab (P1, 2, 27, 17, 18) Panel each supports one brick wall.

227.5mm2,As is less than the minimum; hence we will use the minimum,

BS8110 requires that the bars spacing should not exceed 3d.For this case the highest spacing of
bars is 300mm, therefore no crack because 300<3*140mm=420mm.

Bending reinforcements
Reinforcement in mid span: as it undertakes sagging moment it will be treated as tee section
beam.
Loading arrangement and static analysis of beam shows that the maximum bending moment at
mid span is 136.48KNm.

Maximum shear tress will occur at supports faces. Shear force at support face
