Batch: 2018-2023 Semester: IV

Part A
Answer all questions
1. Differentiate between CMYK and RGB. (Nov/Dec 2019)
Ans: CMYK: This is a four color mode that utilizes the color cyan, magenta, yellow and black.in
various amounts to create all of the necessary colors when printing images. It is a
subtractive process, which means that each additional unique color means more light is
removed, or absorbed, to create colors. When the first three colors are added together,
the result is not pure black, but rather a very dark brown.
RGB: RGB is the color scheme that is associated with electronic displays, such as CRT, LCD
monitors, digital cameras and scanners. It is an additive type color mode that combines
the primary colors, red, green and blue, in various degrees to create a variety of different
colors. When all three colors are combined and displayed to their full extend, the result
is pure white.

2. Name any two vector based graphics editing software. (Nov/Dec 2019)
Ans: 1. Corel Draw 2. Adobe Illustrator 3. Inkscape 4. Affinity Designer

3. Give typical heghts of the following in meters: (Nov/Dec 2019)

(i) Lintel
(ii) Sill/Cill
Ans: (i) Lintel: Commonly we say lintel height 7’0” from floor level for Residential building
and 7’6" for commercial buildings.
(iii) Sill / Cill: Sill level for windows would be 2’0” to 3’0”

4. Represent the hatches for the following using a simple sketch: (Nov/Dec 2019)
(i) RCC in Section
(ii) Brick Wall in section
(iii) Earthwork

5. Differentiate a line and a Polyline in AutoCAD. (Nov/Dec 2019)
Ans: A line is a single object with 2 ends and no width. It can have a line weight which is not
the same as width.
A polyline is a continuous object with multiple straight and arc segments. It can have global width
and segments can have individual widths. The complete polyline can also have a line weight. A
polyline can be exploded into separate line and arcs. Connected lines and arcs can be joined into
a polyline with PEDIT. Polylines with two ends are open, or all segments can be connected to
make it a closed polyline.

The RECTANGLE and POLYGON commands create closed polylines. BOUNDARY creates a closed
polyline inside an enclosed area. Polylines can be extremely useful and versatile for many types
of drawings and diagrams.

6. Draw any to types of lines used for drafting. (Nov/Dec 2019)

7. What are the Boolean operations? (Nov/Dec 2019)

Ans: The Boolean Operations
The Boolean commands work only on solids or regions. The first stage in a solid
model creation consists in obtaining one or more primitives. The next stage consists in using
Boolean operation of Union, Subtract or Intersect in order to create the solid model.
8. What is AutoCAD viewport? (Nov/Dec 2019)
Ans: Layout viewports are objects that display views of model space. You create, scale and
place them in paper space on a layout. On each layout, you can create one or more layout
viewports. Each layout viewport is like a closed circuit TV monitor of a view of the model at a
scale and orientation that you specify.

9. Write the precautions to be followed while setting a camera for render. (Nov/Dec 2019)
Ans: Create the camera and aim it at the geometry you want to be the subject of your scene.
To aim a target camera, drag the target in the direction you want the camera to look. To aim a
free camera, rotate and move the camera icon.
With one camera selected, or if only one exists in the scene, set a camera viewport for
that camera by activating the viewport, then press C. If multiple cameras exists and none or more
than one are selected, 3ds Max prompts you to choose which camera to use.
You can also change to a camera viewport by clicking or right-clicking the Point-Of-View
viewport label, and then from the POV viewport label menu choosing cameras the names of the
camera of choice.
Adjust the camera’s position, rotation, and parameters using the camera viewports
navigation controls. Simply activate the viewport, then use the Truck, Orbit, and Dolly Camera
buttons. Alternatively you can select the camera components in another viewport and use the
move or rotate icons.
Render the camera viewport.

10. What is plugin? Give an example. (Nov/Dec 2019)

Ans: In computing, a plug-in (or plugin, add-in, add-on, or.addon) is a software component that
adds a specific feature to an existing computer program. When a program supports plug-ins, it
enables customization.

11. Expand RAM and ROM in a computer system. (Aprl/May 2019)

Ans: RAM: Random Access Memory
Random Access Memory is form of computer memory that can be read and changed in
any order, typically used to store working data and machine code.
ROM: Read Only Memory
Read Only Memory refers to computer chips containing permanent or semi-permanent
data. Unlike RAM, ROM is non-volatile, even after you turn off your computer, the contents of
ROM will remain. Almost every computer comes with a small amount of ROM containing the
boot firmware.
12. What are the advantages of vector based graphic software? (Aprl/May 2019)
Ans: Vector files are small because they contain a lot less data than the raster files
Vector graphics are more flexible than raster graphics because they can be easily scaled
up and down without any loss to the quality of the image.

Vector graphics have smoother lines hen compared to square, pixel-based raster graphics
therefore, they are better with straight lines and sweeping curves than raster graphics.

13. Write the sequence of steps to be followed to set units in AutoCAd or Revit? (Aprl/May
2019)
Ans: Autodesk Revit
- Click manage tab > settings panel > Project Units.
- In the Project Units dialog, select the discipline.
- Click the value in the format column to change the display value for that unit type.
The format dialog displays.
- Specify Units, if necessary.
- For Rounding, select an appropriate value. If you select customs, enter a value in the
Rounding increment text box.
- For Unit symbol, select an appropriate option from the list.
- Optionally select:
o Suppress trailing 0’s
When selected, trailing zero’s do not display (for example, 123.400 displays as
123.4).
o Supress 0 feet
When selected, does not display the 0 foot value (for example, 0’ – 4” displays
as 4”). This option is available for length and slope units.
o Show + for positive values
o Use digit grouping
When selected, the decimal symbol/digit grouping option specified in the
project units dialog is applied to the unit value.
o Suppress spaces
When selected, suppresses spaces around feet and fractional inches (for
example, 1’ -2” displays as 1’-2”). This option is available for length and slope
units.
o Click OK.
Autodesk AutoCAD
o Type Units and hit ENTER on your keyboard.
o Under Drawing Units, select the desired units.
Various imperial and metric units are available. The units that you select
determine the unit of measurement that each unit in your drawing represents.
For example, if you select Inches, each drawing units equals one inch.

14. Name any four Boolean Operations. (Aprl/May 2019)
Ans: The Boolean Operations
The Boolean commands work only on solids or regions. The first stage in a solid
model creation consists in obtaining one or more primitives. The next stage consists in using
Boolean operation of Union, Subtract or Intersect in order to create the solid model.
1. The UNION command
The UNION command generates a tridimensional object made up of the mathematical
union of two or more solids. The solids obtained this way act as a single object.
2. The SUBTRACT command
The SUBTRACT command allows the obtaining of a single tridimensional solid composed
by mathematical subtracting of the common part of two or more solids.
3. The INTERSECT command
The INTERSECT command allows the obtaining of a solid composed from the common
part of two or more solids.
4. The INTERFERE command
The INTERFERE command allows the creation of a solid composed from the intersection
part of two or more solids (as in INTERSECT command) but with initial solids intact.

15. In Photoshop, what is a smart object?

Ans: In photoshop, it has a special layer known as Smart Object Layer. Smart objects give
freedom to work with multiple copies of a single object. All the multiple copies will be updated
simultaneously when single object is updated. Also, changes in the adjustment of layers and layer
styles of a single object can be done without affecting the multiple copies. Without any loss in
pixel, pixel based objects can be changed several times.

16. What is the difference between PSB (Photoshop Big) and PSD (Photoshop Document)?
Ans: They both are file formats to store digital images. There is very less difference between
PSB and PSD, what they differ is how they are stored and used. PSD is a default extension for
Photoshop files and it can support the file size of 30,000 by 30,000 pixels. While for creating big
documents or large image.psb file format is used, and it can save an image size upto 300,000 by
300,000 pixels.

17. What are the file formats used in AutoCad?
Ans: In AutoCad, .dwg file format is used for design, it can be an interchangeable format. The
file format which is interchangeable has the extension as DXF and operates data operability. It
provides different languages which can be used as per the requirement.

18. What are the benefits of using Autocad?

Ans: Autocad has replaced the traditional method of drafting and designing which was made
by pencil, drafting boards, triangles and compass with just a set of a computer program. The
benefits are immense like:
- Saves times and helps to increase the productivity
