Wheatstone Bridge
Part 1:
Use PhETinteractive simulations to fill the following:
https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/circuit-construction-kit-dc-virtual-lab/latest/circuit-
construction-kit-dc-virtual-lab_en.html

1. Build a circuit as in the figure with

one battery, Connect an ammeter
between D and C instead of VG.
2. Set the value of R1 ,R2 and R3 as in the
table below
3. Change the value of Rx until you get
zero current (the reading of the
ammeter)

Attemp Rx (Ω) Rx (Ω)

R1 (Ω) R2 (Ω) R3 (Ω)
t (simulation) (color code)

brown ,blue ,black ,gold

1 12.5 25 8 16
( 15.2-16.8)

red ,black ,gold , gold

2 82 8 20.5 2
( 1.9-2.1 )

3 50 75 40 60 blue ,black ,black ,gold

( 57-63 )

Find Rx using proper calculations for each attempt:
Attempt 1 Attempt 2 Attempt 3
12.5/8=25/Rx 82/20.5=8/Rx 50/40=75/Rx
1.5625=25/Rx 4=8/Rx 1.25=75/Rx
1.5625*Rx=25 4*Rx=8 1.25*Rx=75
Rx=16Ω Rx=2Ω Rx=60Ω

Write your comments and observations.

 The experimental values and the theoretical values are approximately
equal to each other.

Put a picture for your simulation in attempt 2:

Part 2:
Name the equipment we usually use in the lab that gives the same purpose of:
1) The battery: Digital power supply.
2) Voltmeter, Ammeter: Digital power supply and digital multimeter.

In this simulation; we set the wires resistivity to almost

zero.
How can we change the wire resistance (increase or
decrease) experimentally? Explain in details.
(you can check the lab textbook for help)

Increasing the radius of the wire reduces the

resistance, while increasing the length of the wire increases the
resistance.according to the law:
R=ρL/A.

Good Luck 😊
