Reflection
This particular job does not fit my skills and interests. I am able to produce
visual art from two years being in IB Visual Arts, but animation is beyond my
capabilities. I do find animators to be absolutely fascinating. There’s a saying
that anyone can make something move, but it takes an animator to make it
live, and I think that is both true and fascinating. If I were to be in this career
field, I would be better at the computer graphics aspect because computers
are easier for me to navigate than a pencil on paper. I may be able to assist in
storyboarding and character movements and personalities. My advice to
anyone interested in this career would be to watch some documentaries and
research people who are already in this field, and if at all possible, contact
them and ask them any questions you have that the Internet may not be able
to provide an answer for.
Audio Engineer

implementation from pre-wire to final installation of burglar alarm, distributed audio/video, home theater, structured
cabling, computer networks/WiFi, surveillance, and central vacuum systems.

Expected Skill Sets- Full implementation from pre-wire to final installation of burglar alarm, distributed
audio/video, home theater, structured cabling, computer networks/WiFi, surveillance, and central vacuum systems.

Necessary Qualifications- Burglar Alarm: 5 years (Preferred), Structured Cabling: 5 years (Preferred),
Audio/Video: 5 years (Preferred)

Expected Salary- $32k to $52k /year

Reflection
This job does not fit my career skills and interests. The closest interest I have
to this career is prop building, which I took part in during high school for
musicals and shows. If I were to join in on this occupation, I would like to see
myself helping to install home theaters for families. I’ve always wanted a
theater, so it would be fun to see how they are created and built. My advice to
anyone entering this field would be that if this career sounds interesting to
you, play around with free online softwares that allow you to record and edit
audio. Once comfortable with that, try finding an internship with a company
like CNN who employs many people with many talents, and learn all about
Audio Engineers.
Studio Camera Operator
Job Description- Camera operators are required to know how to operate cameras in both a tripod and
handheld configuration and taking and executing cues from the technical director, project manager, or stage
manager.

Expected Skill Sets- Responsibilities include, but not limited to, skilled setup, operation during the show, and
dismantlement of studio configuration, long lens, and handheld cameras. Interact with clients and staff in a positive
and professional manner and assist any and all positions at any time, including loading and unloading of trucks.

Necessary Qualifications- Most editor and camera operator positions require a bachelor's degree in a
field related to film or broadcasting, such as communications.

Expected Salary- $32k - $48k /year

Reflection
I don’t currently have the skills to enter this career field, but it does sound
interesting, and I might like to know how what we as viewers see on television
comes about from behind the scenes. However, as I researched more, I found
that this job seems to be very demanding and unforgiving, and I don’t feel this
is the best career option for me. If I did enter into this career field, I would
operate a camera, but I’m not very tall or steady-handed, so I would probably
pass. My advice to anyone entering this field would be that using your own
phone camera is a great start to practice camera angles, turning the camera,
and steadying your hands. There are freelance positions and hourly positions
as a camera operator, so that would be a great place to start before choosing
this job as a career.
