Tumblr blog
http://carolngachathi.tumblr.com/

For my blog, I wanted to carry through the same theme as my website.

Therefore, I have used a photo as the background for the header as this
aligns with the use of photos in my website. I used the grid layout for the
blog as this is also incorporated in my website. The use of a white, clean,
simplistic blog, also aligns with the color scheme in my website
I have so far used the blog to track progress and research ideas for my
website. I have yet to use it as I intended. I intend to use it to track my
developments and research for my CV, logo and business card. I will also

Website
Development

Website Development

I chose a white color scheme for my website as I believe this establishes a clean,
sophisticated look. And as the website will contain videos and photos, I believe,
the rest of the site needs to be simple so as to not distract from the media

From the previous slide, we see the first photo which doesnt contain any media.
The second footage, shows one of the complete drafts, where we had the
footage. Though this style worked well and was clean and elegant, it did not
express who I am or give examples of how I work.

Therefore, I decided to include photos of me at work, in between each section.

First, I believe this differentiates the clean/elegant look and makes the website
stand out. Second, I believe, this allows those viewing the website to have a
better idea of who I am, from seeing me at work in various locations.

However, I still need to develop the style further by having the sections, much
wider than the photographs in between, so as to draw emphasis to my work.

The homepage and the contact me page, rely on a black color scheme as I
wanted to differentiate the two from the rest of the website. I also wanted to
discourage the monotone that could be conceived from having the same look
through out the website.

Website Development

I liked the front page The Go Pro website as it was simplistic yet
incorporated the introduction video successfully in its layout.
I believe, I could look into having the video on my front page as full
screen. I think this is a simple idea that also works well with my layout.
And also aligns with how Ive used pictures in between sections of my
website.
Having the header visible alongside the video also means that one can
still easily visit other parts of the website. I would however put the video
below the header rather than on top of it (like Go Pro). I will also end my

Website Development

I looked at a friends website (the one making my website) and I like her
contact me page.
Though quite simple, I find it unique as she uses a montage as a
background. The images in the montage regularly swap over into new
pictures.
I believe, I could use a montage as a background for my contact me
page. Mine would however be static. This keeps in line with my use of
images throughout the website and also enables my website to stand

Business cards Development

For my business card, I want to ensure that its

memorable. However, I mainly want one that relates
to my career or a creative one thats a play on
everyday objects.
The food business card on the right works as it
relates to the company. The tag business card on the
top right also works as its a play on the companys
name. The coupon business card is appealing as its
simple yet identifiable as its related to everyday
items.
As such, I want my business card to be simple yet

Logo Development

Carrying on with the theme of play on

objects, I want to have a play on words logo.
The logo could incorporate a play on the
words in my name, or on a symbol that is
related to my career. Therefore, I want a
symbol yet creative logo, that can work
across my CV, website, business card, etc.
I do want a symbol as part of my logo as I
believe this makes it stand out as its eyecatching.
However, I also want to incorporate my
name, either in full or initialed, as part of the
logo.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths:

Developing my CV and gaining work experience

Researching ideas and learning what is suitable for my artifacts

Collaborating with others in the creative industry

Knowledge, research and development of my career path but also of other jobs
that can bring income to support progress in my career

Development of other skills such as editing, event management, etc. so as to be

further adaptable and suitable to entry-level jobs/internships

Collecting contacts and ensuring that I still collaborate with past jobs/internships

Weaknesses:

Keeping my Tumblr blog up-to-date and adding to it when I have made

developments or done further research

Showing progress on how I am developing my artifacts such as screen shots of

changes and various versions

Further research of job roles/internships and other entry-level jobs

Developing my skills by doing independent work or doing projects for local

businesses

Development of other skills

I have been developing my photography and video editing skills as I believe

these skills can be useful in gaining an income. I have been developing my
photography skills by taking photos at events I attend so as to better myself.

As seen above, I have previously use some of my photos in event adverts for
my previous workplace Family Church

I want to use these skills in wedding videos and promotional/corporate

videos as these two methods can aid me in having a sustainable income.

I am still making event adverts for Family Church alongside being part of a
live production team each Sunday, and will be making a full promotional
video for them soon

I am also in charge of photos and videos at a friends wedding in June. This

allows me to develop my skills in wedding/videos and also enables me to
collaborate with other photographers and filmmakers.

Whats Left?

Develop my website

Create a suitable logo

Create a business card

Incorporate the logo on my website, CV, business card and

showreel

Complete my CV

Start applying for jobs and internships

Create a showreel As my website already includes an introduction

video with some of my work, and the rest of my work is available to
view, I want more time to create a professional showreel with my
best work present and I will keep updating it as I do more projects
