Students will be able to talk about how the Day of the Dead is celebrated in México.

1. Warm – up
In your notebook, answer some questions about Mexico:
- What is the official name of Mexico?
- What is the most popular sport in Mexico:
- Find at least 20 world heritage sites in Mexico. Add pictures about each one.

2. On page20 in the book, read interesting facts about Mexico and choose
your favorite.

3. Read information in a mind map about The Day of the Dead and label the
parts of the mind map.

4. On page 21, look at the illustration and answer:


- What does the picture show?
- Is it a man or a woman?
- Why do you think the skeleton is dressed like that?

5. Now read about La Catrina and answer comprehension questions about the
text and make a mind map about it.

6. Answer the questions:


- Explain how the next events are celebrated: Graduation, birthdays,
independence day, thanksgiving, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Ed al – Fitr, Wsak,
Tha Day of the Dead.
- Now, create a mind map of two celebrations.

- Thanksgiving Day: it is celebrated with a
turkey meal dinner as a special dish, it is also a
tradition to play soccer games and watch the
Mac’ys parade.
- Bar and Bat Mitzvash: celebrated by giving
and receiving gifts.
- Eid al-Fitr: its celebration begins very early in
prayer with the community and it is a tradition
to make breakfast and where the fast that has
been carried out for a month is ended.
- Day of the dead: candles are placed in the
graves of the dead, they are left lit, they also
place fruits and foods that the deceased liked,
