Mount Everest Expedition 2019

In Support of

Chad Swayze climbing history

The start of my hiking and climbing career was in 1994. While in grade 9, I took a survival course that taught me
the skills to prepare and pack light, carry all expedition gear in one compact backpack and most importantly
respect the weather and environment that I was going to be hiking in. This is when I set my sights on climbing
Mount Everest.

I furthered my preparation in 1996 and 1997 by spending two full weeks living and hiking in the Canadian Rocky
Mountains summiting 10 mountains. This opened my eyes to respect mountaineering, where a new challenge was
overcome, altitude. Know as Metres Above Sea Level (MASL), the higher your travel up a mountain, the less
oxygen there is to breath. Although in 1996-1997 I did not climb any mountains that were of any significant
MASL, this was my first exposure to high altitude.

My first exposure to very high altitude climbing came in January 2010 when I spent a month hiking in Peru and
Bolivia, reaching a height of 4215 MASL. At that altitude you struggle for oxygen by breathing faster and the heart
rate increases to circulate what little oxygen your blood has to the cells of your body.

Always wanting to test myself and push higher in altitude, along with three friends, we set our sights on Mount
Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Standing at 5895 MASL, it is Africa’s highest mountain. On the morning of
January 14th, 2012, after climbing for 7 days and temperatures of –20 degrees, we stood on the highest point of the
continent, with a Winnipeg Jets flag in tow. This was my first exposure to Extreme Altitude and Altitude Sickness.
With full body aches and pains similar to the flu, minor headaches, along with nausea and vomiting that lasts for
days, all 4 of us had some form of Altitude Sickness.

December 2016 was the next high for me where I spent 17 days climbing Mount Aconcagua in Argentina.
Standing at 6960 MASL, it is the highest mountain outside of the Himalayas. Along with the training I’ve received
from being part of the Winnipeg Fire Department Hi-Angle Rescue Team, hiking and camping in the extreme
altitude and temperatures of Aconcagua (-30 degrees), I am now prepared for the next big test, MOUNT
EVERSEST

Given the normally short Everest climbing season, I will be climbing Mount Everest from March-May 2019 with
an expect summit date around May 17th, 2019 (weather dependent).

Request for funds.
I fully plan to self fund my Everest Expedition,
however I would like to raise $50,000 for the Never
Alone Foundation while doing this climb.

As a board member of the Never Alone Foundation,

I have witnessed how important these funds will be
when it comes to supporting the patients, families
and care givers of people affected by cancer.

There are 6 levels of sponsorship that are listed Sean Mooney, a friend who summited
Everest in 2013, shown here on the
below. All the funds from these sponsorship levels summit of Mount Denali wearing
summit jacket with spots for two
will go directly to the Never Alone Foundation. Summit Sponsor Logos.

The difficulty of each camp increases with altitude, so does the price. All Camp Sponsors will
receive the same as the above supporter level. In addition, they will be specifically mentioned during
social media posts from the mountain at Basecamp in posts like “made it to Camp 2 today, and we
will be spending the night. This could not have been possible without the help of
YOUR BUSINESS. Also a logo will be posted on the tent at the camp that is sponsored.
