Cat and
Mouse

Equipment: One game board, one six-sided die, and one counter

Rules: Work by yourself or with a partner. Place one counter on the mouse.
Roll the die and move along the board following the arrows. If you roll an even
number, you move in the direction of the E arrow. If you roll an odd number,
you move in the direction of the O arrow. Play until the cat gets the mouse or
the mouse gets the cheese.

1. Let’s play!
2. If you were to play again, what might happen? Discuss.
3. Play 10 games and record what happens.

4. Discuss the results. Do these results suggest the game is fair, or does
the mouse seem to have a small advantage? If we played again, do you
think we would get exactly the same totals? How could we be sure?
