CONCLUSION

Geoslope is a software suite for modelling slope stability, ground deformation and
heat and mass transfer in soil and rock. The GeoStudio is a product designed as an aid to
learning geotechnical numerical modeling. It is an ideal teaching tool for university. The
professors can use it to teach the students smartly using the software.

Based on the task given, we have design two slope stability analysis. Firstly, we
design for the slope stability analysis using a cohesion value, c=80 kN /m2 in the underlying
soil. Secondly, we design the slope stability analysis using a cohesion value, c=30 kN /m2 in
the underlying soil.

From the design for the slope stability using a cohesion value, c=80 kN /m2 the factor
of safety, Fs=3.727. Next, the factor of safety for design slope stability analysis using a
cohesion value, c=1.833.

The slope stability safety factor refers to the ratio of the soil shear strength to the

shear stress of a possible sliding surface in the slope. The limit equilibrium method is the
ways to analyse the slope stability in two and three dimensions. This method identifies
potential failure mechanisms and derives factors of safety for a particular geotechnical
situation.

There are several types of soil slope failures which are translational failure, rotational
failure, wedge failure and compound failure. There are several ways to increase the stability
of the slope. Firstly, slope flattening reduces the weight of the mass tending to slide.
Secondly, proving a berm beneath the toe of the slope enhances the resistance to movement.
Last but not least, drainage helps in reducing the seepage forces and thus enhances the
stability of slopes.

In conclusion, geoslope software that is comprehensive and easy was used. The
software has help geotechnical modeling accessible and practical for all geotechnical
engineers. Lastly, the factors of safety were determined using geoslope.
