Experiment No. 3
Thyristor Speed Controller with Regulation

HYPOTHESIS

1. What do you expect about the trend of the value of IA in Table 3.1. in general? (2 points)

- Because of the torque, the current IA will increase.

2. What do you expect about trend of the value of EA in Table 3.1 without IR
Compensation? (2 points)

- EA will remain the same.

3. What do you expect about trend of the value of motor speed in Table 3.1 without IR
Compensation? (2 points)

- The value of the speed is decreasing.

4. How does the speed regulation of the without IR Compensation compared to Experiment
2? (3 points)

- The value of speed on experiment 2 has a very low difference.

5. What do you expect about trend of the value of EA in Table 3.1 with IR Compensation? (2
points)

- EA will be the same.

6. What do you expect about trend of the value of motor speed in Table 3.1 with IR
Compensation? (2 points)

- The value of speed changes slowly meaning they were close to each other.

7. What is the expected speed regulation of the with IR compensation run? (2 points)

- The speed regulation is constant.

8. Which REFERENCE INTERGATOR setting will the motor accelerate faster? MIN or
MAX? (2 points)

- MIN

9. What do you expect will happen to the maximum torque that you will achieve for the
motor in Table 3.2? (3 points)

- IA will be at maximum and the speed, voltage, and field current will be the same.
