RESULTS:
% Gravel = 8.905 %

% Sand= 83.465 %

% Silt and Clay= 7.63 %

Diameter at 60 % Grain Passing = D60 = 0.39 mm

Diameter at 50 % Grain Passing (Mean Grain Size) = D 50 = 0.28 mm

Diameter at 30 % Grain Passing = D30 = 0.17 mm

Diameter at 10 % Grain Passing (Effective Grain Size) = D 10 = 0.08 mm

Co-efficient of Uniformity = Cu = 4.875

Co-efficient of Curvature = Cc = 0.926

To Carry out “Sieve Analysis” of a given Soil Sample.

COMMENTS:
Sieve Analysis is used to access the particle size distribution of any sample. This distribution is of critical
importance to the way material performs in use. It is helpful in determination of percentage
composition of gravels, sand & silt or clay. Also we come to know that for a specific sample, fine analysis
id required or not.

The sample on which we performed sieve analysis had 8.902 % Gravels, 83.46 % Sand and 7.63 % Silt &
Clay.The sample seems to consist of particles of all sizes. Also the values of coefficeint of Uniformity and
Curvature infers that the sample is Well Graded.
