Claudius Ptolemy 170 – 110 B.C. Ptolemaic Model
Answer this:
1. What do you think is the reason why we need to study about the universe?

B. Analysis
The teacher will generalize the topic based on the students answer on the concept note.
C. Abstraction
The teacher will further discuss the topic by explaining the contributions of the philosophers and scientist during
ancient times. The teacher will also include how to respect not just only someone’s belief about the origin of the
universe but the respect to everyone.
D. Application / Assessment
Matching Type: Match the Column A from Column B
A B
1. Ancient Indians a. Ptolemaic Model
2. Philolaus b. Heliocentric Model
3. Aristarchus c. The Hymn of Creation in Rigveda.
4. Aristotle d. Central fire

Concept Note #2
Origin of the Universe
Philosopher/ Scientist Contribution
Johannes Kepler Kepler’s Planetary Model
Isaac Newton Proposed Universal Gravitation
Tycho Brahe Made an accurate and long term record that the moon and the sun
orbited the earth while the other planets orbited the sun.
Nicolaus Copernicus Presented Heliocentric Theory
Galileo Galilei Defend the Heliocentric theory using telescope.

C. Abstraction
The teacher will further discuss the topic by explaining the contributions of the scientist. The teacher will also
include how do these scientist achieve everything by being competent.
D. Application / Assessment
Identification:
1. He made an accurate and long term record that the moon and the sun orbited
the earth while the other planets orbited the sun.
2. He proposed Universal Gravitation.

LESSON PLAN IN EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE

I. TOPIC: THE ERA’S OF BIGBANG THEORY

II. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the students must be able to:
a. Identify the different eras of the Bigbang Theory.
b. Integrate the values of APPRECIATION.

III. REFERENCE / MATERIALS

IV. TEACHING PROCEDURES AND STRATEGIES

1. Daily Routine (checking of attendance, prayer, etc.)

2. Simple Recall / Review
Cite some theories that explains the origin of the universe.
3. Motivation:
The teacher will show five images and ask the students to arrange the photos from what happened first.
4. Development of the Lesson:

A. Activity
Concept Note #3
The Eras of the Bigbang Theory
ERA Time Events
Planck Era 10-43 seconds after the Bigbang All the basic forces of nature are still combined
GUT (Grand Unified Theory) 10-43 s to 10-38 s Gravity "freezes out" and becomes distinct.
Electroweak Era 10-38 s to 10-10 s The nuclear strong force "freezes out" and
becomes distinct.
Particle Era 10-10 s to 0.001 s Particles begin to form
Era of Nucleosynthesis 0.001 s to 3 minutes Nuclear fusion creates Helium, and tiny amount of
heavier elements
Era of Nuclei 3 minutes to 500,000 years Electrons are not yet bound to nuclei
Era of Atoms 500,000 years to 1 Billion years Electrons recombine to form neutral atoms, and
the first stars are born
Era of Galaxies 1 Billion years up to present Galaxies begin to form, leading up to the present
Answer this:
1. In your own opinion, what do you think is the most important era for the creation of everything in the universe?

B. Analysis
The teacher will generalize the topic based on the students answer on the concept note.
C. Abstraction
The teacher will further discuss the timeline and explains the different forces of nature such as:
Gravity, Electromagnetic force, Nuclear Strong Force and Nuclear Weak Force. And also integrate the values of
appreciation during the discussion.
D. Application / Assessment
Answer the following question:
1. What is the best evidence that supports the bigbang theory?
2. In what era does the gravity started to become distinct?
3. In what era does the electromagnetic and nuclear weak force were still combined?
4. what do you call a matter that is composed of protons and neutrons?
5. In what era does galaxies started to form?
