To Whom It May Concern:

This is a letter of recommendation for Ms. Stephanie Leonard-Jose, who is currently a

student in my class, Introduction to Social and Economic Perspectives on Community.
Though I have only known Stephanie for a semester, I have had the opportunity to observe
her amazing academic and interpersonal skills in my classroom.

Stephanie demonstrates a strong work ethic, maintaining a high GPA while balancing the
demands of two degree programs. She comes to class on time and well-prepared to actively
participate in discussions. Stephanie seems to take a genuine interest in the course, and her
compassion for others is evident in the examples she uses in small group discussions.
Stephanie has spent a considerable amount of time volunteering and working in settings
that allow her to serve others. Her passion for improving the lives of others is evident in
how she spends her time working with children who have been exposed to violence in the
home, families facing serious medical issues and the homeless. Despite personal
challenges, Stephanie has persevered and continues to work hard towards achieving her
goals, all for the purpose of serving others.

It is clear to me that Stephanie is a goal-oriented student who will make a big difference in
the world one day, while making as much of a difference as she can in her everyday life as
a full-time student and part-time student assistant. She takes her studies seriously and
exhibits strong academic skills. I am confident Stephanie’s analytic abilities and genuinely
good character will represent Lauderdale Lakes well throughout her college career and
succeeding career path. It is my hope that the Mayor S. Samuel Brown Scholarship
committee will recognize Stephanie’s outstanding achievements thus far and support her
invaluable learning experience.

Sincerely,

Kelly Moore, PhD
