Yellow belt is training with White gi, white belt and bokuto with saya
 Basic course training

Yellow, 5 kyu-sha
Yellow belt is training with White gi, white belt and bokuto with saya.

 Possible to get 5.kyu: 2-3 month as a white belt at least


 Basic vocabulary (dojo/environment, bokuto, katana, tsuba, saya etc)
 Understanding the principles of kenjutsu

A) ETIQUETTE (very important) and loyalty to the teacher, -club and -style

B) TECHNIQUES WITHOUT SWORD –This part B is not mandatory


 Kamae / Basic positions (no weapon)
o hidari hamni kamae (formal position)
o migi hamni kamae (formal position)

 Tsuki waza / Basic strikes (no weapon)


o oitsuki (formal position)
o gyakutsuki (formal position)

 Ukemi waza / Basic brakefalls


o side
o backwards

C) TECHNIQUES WITH SWORD


 Ukemi waza / Basic brakefalls (with bokuto)
o side
o backwards
 Basic positions with bokuto
o seigan no kamae
o gedan no kamae
o jodan no kamae
o dai jodan no kamae
o migi kuruma no kamae
o hidari kuruma no kamae
 Basic sword control techniques from seigan no kamae
o BATTO-SI-TE: bokuto from saya
o NO-TO: bokuto to saya
 Basic strikes with sword
o strike forward from jodan
o strike to opposite direction from jodan
o strike forward from dai jodan
o all these basic strikes with uke (obs. distance)
o all basic positions with uke (obs. distance)
o jab (pisto)

 Combinations, example:
Attack: jodan, dai jodan, strike with right step, jab forward
Defence: let bokuto go back: step back with right and dai jodan
 Kata 1, Jûmonji
